How Did Your " VB6 " Turn Out

Likewise here. Local dealer is still operating but with limited customer access. They're offering a service where ya drop your keys off and they'll pick up (local) the customer's vehicle, disinfect, take it in for service, disinfect again then return it to the customer. Not much detail on the disinfecting part.

Yeah, very few actual cases of covid up here, but no real reason to risk it for a recall that isn't really bothering my truck right now.

I registered for the site sitting in the stealers disregard room getting my first oil change and recall compleated,
I’ll update later how it feels.

HA..HA.. stealers disregard room...some of them should have that displayed on the wall... in neon!

The VB6 recall is done, the idle seems to be a little lower (I did not write down before numbers) throttle response does feel better, the engine and truck seem more connected. Not that delay of 3-4 seconds between briskly mashing the accelerator and when the truck decides to get moving. There is a cold engine stumble??? But it does go away.

I had VB6 done last week (and W03). On the drive home from the dealer I thought it was idling a little rough. However the next day everything seemed fine. Driving this week, I can’t say I notice any difference good or bad. Seems about the same which is fine by me.

Truck back from the dealer (with a special surprise).

TCM: 68475153AD
PCM: 52401032AE

Mechanic is telling me there are no updates for my truck.

Says rough idle on cold start is the new norm with EGR/EPA emissions standards.

SURPRISE!

The TCM version seems to make sense, but your PCM version doesn't make sense because 52401032AE is older than what I had on my truck in March.

My truck was updated to version AH on April 17th for the recall VB6.

I am really sorry about the surprise. Did they accept responsibility?

It happened on their lot while they had control of the vehicle so yes, they are taking care of it.

I was told the AH and AI code everyone is talking about is for 2019 and to look at the WHOLE number, not just the last 2 letters.

It either came from the plant (Feb roll-off) with that or the dealer flashed it before I took delivery 3-10. I believe they are required to have all recalls and TSB's performed before they deliver a vehicle, no?

If someone has a 2020 3500 HO with a different code, please post it up.

The only open recall showing on my truck is the W24 bed step.

Yes, the numeric part must match. I failed to recognize that your number is slightly different than mine (52401032 vs 52401932). Maybe that digit represents the least-significant digit of the model year?

The are only legally required to address all recalls, but not TSBs. They aren't even required to address a TSB unless you can demonstrate you are experiencing the problem, but my dealership is very cooperative and addresses the TSBs without requiring me to demonstrate the problem.

The only open recall showing on my truck is the W24 bed step.

The web site never showed a recall for my truck, but my dealership confirmed my truck was affected by the recall. The web site may not be 100% accurate.

I call BS! "BREAKING NEWS!: Unlike their Big 3 counterparts, the latest diesel powered Ram trucks idle roughly because FCA can't figure out how to make an emissions compliant diesel engine idle properly!"

The other "SURPRISE" is BS too. FFS!

Let me guess, stealer says “they are all that way”

The last Cummins that idled smooth cold for me is my Big Cam 400.. my two ISX's jump, lump, and snarl until they're warm. With that experience in hand, my cold 6.7 minor idle issues bothers me none.

My sarcasm was intended to highlight the fact that some (many?) of these latest and greatest ISB Cummins equipped Rams idle like, well... bovine excreta. There is no reference to "jump, lump and snarl" in the current Italian cookbook. Furthermore, an I-6 engine is inherently balanced and is typically smoother running than its V8 counterparts, i.e., it shouldn't idle roughly. Unless, perhaps, the fuel scheduling is out to lunch... ;)

So I had the VB6 done on my last scheduled maintenance. I was never really happy with the way the Aisin shifted but didnt know any better as I had only owned a 2016 ram with a 68 RFE and a 2018 GMC with the Allison. After the update the transmission shift in like a dream I couldn’t even feel it change gears when I wasn’t towing, however after catching up to my car carrier and pulling 30,000 pounds the truck seems to run rougher and shift hard in the first and second or second and third I can’t really tell. Not sure if this is due to the update or something else.
