Love my gen-y! Use the same calc for pin weight to figure out which gen-y model to get (22%).Thank you. I will look into the Gen-Y Gooseneck. I have the Ram pucks. Never thought of going to a gooseneck hitch system for a 5th wheel.

Go with the higher number rating version. Once it breaks in it will ride great.Since I am looking at a pin weight of 3600 lbs, I am looking at the 5th Wheel Pin Box Replacement with Gooseneck Snaplatch Coupler, 2.5K – 4.5K pin weight range 30K Towing. They also have a 3.5K Pin Weight version but that maxes out at 3.5K (1.5K-3.5K) at 21K towing so I assume I need the 4.5K model.
Yes you will save a bit going with the gen-y but not as much as you might think a standard 5th wheel hitch rated at 20k is anywhere from 160-200lbs a standard pinbox is about 50-75lbs theGoing this route I do save some "weight" in the bed, correct?
As ridiculous as that sounds its a good point. Now it could be covered but you are in for a fight since they would have to without a doubt prove the Goose box caused the failure and you will need lawyersAlso worth noting that Gen-Y gooseneck conversions are not OEM approved. The only OEM approved gooseneck conversion is the Reese Goosebox. If you install the Gen-Y and have a frame failure you're on your own for the repair. Lippert won't void your frame warranty with a Reese.
Thank you much worked like a champ.Try using this link with your VIN added onto the end.

This is why i hate Lippert but they have bought everyone out so they dominate the market
[Disclaimer: I am not a lawyer, just a consumer that has lived through frame failure] You are correct. Goosebox is the only "approved" because Goosebox is a Lippert product. However, if you have frame failure the manufacture (Lippert) has to prove that aftermarket part caused the failure. Goosebox and Gen-Y have the same torque/connection against the frame. I have not heard of someone's warranty being outright voided because of Gen-Y. Gen-Y will also help you go to bat as well. Their customer service is amazing. Also worth noting that Gen-Y gooseneck conversions are not OEM approved. The only OEM approved gooseneck conversion is the Reese Goosebox. Its not bad still a heavy unitIs the Reese Goosebox good? All that said, I should just stick with a B&W Comfort set up.
Well the thing is it can haul it no issue at all and not break or wear anything out. most people do not go and find all the weights to worry about.I have to say, I am just surprised as hell my 1 ton Ram long bed can't pull a 16K pound dual axel 5th wheel toy hauler!! I see a lot of 3/4 and 1 ton SRW's out there hauling 5th wheels all day!!!! Not interested in a dually. Very frustrated...........Rant over.
Thats what i would doI hear ya all. I may just get the trailer as we really like it for the 2 of us. See how it scales out, and if it's close, ok, if not, I can trade up to a dually. But I will order it and get everything I want. Thanks to all of you for providing guidance and info. I really appreciate it.
the dually frame is the same as the 3500srw for the most part structurally the 11.5 axle is rated at 11k from its manufacture. Really the only limiting factor OEM is the tires. Going 2-300lbs over the axle weight wont cause a failure….Reminds me of the guy that put a 8000 lb bed camper in his 3500 dually then cried when his frame snapped. Ram denied his warranty because he was grossly overloaded.
Is it going to happen to everyone that puts 8000 lbs in their bed? Probably not. Do you want to be the one where something does break and you're left holding the bag? Also, probably not.
Point is, yeah, you can overload your truck and probably not have an issue. Or you can have a catastrophic failure and be stuck with the bill.
I added my VIN and got back >{"data":{"status":"failure","status_code":"ERR_104","status_desc":"Model Year outside supported range.”}}. Looks like it is outside the model year? Is my 2021 RAM not supported?Try using this link with your VIN added onto the end.
