Hello, I am screamineagle.

I own a 2020 Silverado SRW 3500 duramax and I am thinking of jumping ship to a Ram Dually cummins.

Jump.
I have a 2004 4x4 silverado and a 2021 Power Wagon. But the Cummins I belevie is better than the duramax.
The exterior and interior is definitely better than the others in the big 3.

I tow a 43 foot 5th wheel toyhauler, but at the same time I use my truck for daily driving when needed. My duramax with the 10 speed pulls avg 14-17 mpg around town and I dont want to sacrifice much with diesel the cost it is.

Daily driving a dually?? Mkay...
While all 2500 and 3500 SRW come with a 3.73 final gear ratio, a dually will come with a 4.10, not the best when you bring up fuel economy.
2500 or 3500 SO engine can get right around 20 mpg highway driving, HO will be 2-3 mpg less highway, no point comparing city or mixed driving as this will depend.
There's plenty of MPG discussions just search

I can say that our 2023 DRW duramax ranch truck gets about the same unloaded mileage that my 2500 cummins gets. Our 2019 DRW duramax actually got a little better mileage but I believe the '23 has more rated towing capacity.

As for comfort. I think my Ram is more comfortable long distance than the Chevy. Just my .02 though.

You can order a DRW in 3.73 rear end.
I am pretty curious to know what kind of mileage to expect from a cummins dually
MPG are going to vary so much based on driving style etc that its an inexact science but general feedback would say that you can expect similar MPGs with the Cummins dually as you are getting right now with the Duramax.

IMO the Ram interior blows the competition out of the water and the towing experience with the Cummins + AISIN 6 speed is tough to beat. The exhaust brake on these trucks is amazing. I dont think you would be disappointed in making the jump.

For reference I used to drive an 04 silverado CCLB.

Screamineagle, I think you've got 2 questions to answer. 1st is 2020 GM vs. that or newer Ram. As others have said I think the interior is an absolute win for the Ram, I was a guy who leans GM and planning to replace my '07 Duramax with a '19, and after driving a few Rams simply couldn't do it, had to have the Ram interior. As for diesel vs. diesel, it's a win win, I'm a fan of the Duramax and have less experience with Cummins but both are pretty amazing powertrains that will do what you want to do.

2nd question is SRW vs. DRW. IMO you can't compare a GM SRW vs. Ram DRW and call it a comparison. Dually's are different to drive, to park, etc. Not many people would choose a dually for a daily driver if they didn't make use of the dual wheels for some purpose. Your towing sounds like a good reason to go dually, but make your comparison DRW vs. DRW to get to the right answer for you. Hope that made sense.

Thanks for all the input, I am still torn. I do love my truck, I do love the Ram interior. I am not crazy about driving a dually around but The Fifth wheel may be traveling more now that we are retired. I took exact numbers off my truck yesterday. 3773#payload 21,200# towing capacity My 5th came off the assembly line at 15,400 dry generator included. the pin weight is 3100 empty.
I always haul 30 gallons of fuel in the fifth and either the golf cart or the Harley trike one or the other at 1200 Lbs. both these add weight to the rear garage. I know the scales are my friend I just dont come across them often. I cannot complain about the mileage it gets towing , have never see below 8-10 average 12 is a real number . Just trying to decide if im too close.

I thought you'd have more payload than that on the GM 3500. One other factor is I think the Ram is about 8" shorter in length for CC, similar in length if you go with megacab.

My '19 HO 3500 srw has a 3840# payload and 24,000# towing. You definitely need a dually you can't get much more than that is srw diesel no matter the maker

You're not going to go wrong with any of the big 3 in all honesty. I'd go test drive them all so you can see what you think. Interiors are obviously a personal preference area. I think Ram looks the nicest, but Ford is closing in fast and the new GM interior looks like it will be the best IMHO.

Cummins isn't the fastest unloaded, but seems to be pretty broad view that it pulls the best, and the EB is the best on it hands down.

MPG is probably going to be pretty close amongst the big three, but I wouldn't be surprised if Ram is behind by a mpg or two. The Ford/GM offer 10 speed trans, that allows you for more gearing options to keep you in that sweet spot.

Loved my Silverado!
My Ram raised the bar.... a lot! lol

Welcome!!!
