Got my 2022 ram 6.4 hemi engine replaced under warranty. Heater still doesn't work. Burped it several times. Checked the bend door actuator, it goes back and forth. Then pulled both heather hoses on the firewall, flushed each side with a hose, no black ages there. Plugged the hose to the other sides to the block, water still came out after going thru the oil filter housing, no block.
Im thinking the hose routing must be wrong.
I work on a lot of older simpler cars, and I cannot see how this ram would get water from the radiator to that oil filter housing/coolant control valve area, there are only 2 water ports and they both go the the firewall on my setup. Seems like one should be coming from a feed from the lower rad hose to the old filter housing, then to the firewall, heater core, and the other coming from the heater core back to the over flow tank. But its a mess down there.

Take the truck back to whoever did the warranty work, and tell them they messed up your heat.

They said it was my fault somehow, due to the truck being dusty. Now ive learned its a closed water system, and it couldn't possibly be my fault. Those service stations really hate working on cars. Its pretty odd.

So they replaced an engine under warranty.

Then the heat doesn’t work.

Now it’s not covered because the truck is dusty?

I’m having a hard time following the logic here. What dealer is doing the work, and how long ago was it done?

A year ago. Heater wasn't part of powertrain only warranty coverage. I was just happy to get a new engine. But my heat has never worked and im trying to figure out why. If checked everything except how the oil filter housing that happens to have a valve and coolant junction on it. Its in a huge PITA spot to put a simple heater core valve. My issue is it doesn't make sense that the only 2 hoses that go to it go right back to the heater core, 17 and 18 go to heater core. Which means nothing comes from the radiator which should be the hot water supply to the core. And I cant find a schematics of the coolant line routing.Screenshot_20260307_202929_Gallery.jpg

So the heater never worked, even before the engine was replaced. Got it.

Go to a dealer and ask to “look” at a pickup of the same year, as if you’re interested in buying. Take pics of the hose routing.

I wish I was more help, but I definitely can’t remember the proper hose routing from memory.

Good pics here: https://www.ramforum.com/threads/heater-hose-configuration.196276/

I know i found those pics too. But that is a 2018 and prior. Going to look at one on the lot is a good idea.
Mine is way different
Right now its doing this> which means no real connection to the system its just a closed loop.

I think i found my routing error. May try in the morning. Seriously no schematics out there is wild. Screenshot_20260307_211427_Samsung Internet.jpgScreenshot_20260307_211632_Gallery.jpg
