Owning my 2019 2500 with the upgraded Harman Kardon sound system, I can't help but be disappointed with the soft sound compared to my 2017 Ram I had. Looking to see if anyone has by chance upgraded their H/K subwoofer yet and has any feedback or what they did.

I stuffed the box with some left over pollyfill the second I got home. Sounds a tad bit better with the windows up. Love how quite this new truck is.

I put the original sub with enclosure in the dumpster. In it’s place I installed a JL Audio Stealthbox along with a JL Audio sub amp. It made a huge difference. For the signal to the amp I used the original wires that went to the sub. For power I used the battery and for the turn-on connection I used one of the auxiliary switches.

Hm very interesting using the aux switch for power. I was thinking along the lines of a LOC or something. I saw the Stealthbox option, just pricey for one sub/box, but JL is great quality like you said.

The Aux switch works well as it can be configured to turn on when the truck is started. If I remember right there is one drawback to using the switch. It only works when the ignition is in the run position. It is not a problem for me as I don’t listen to the radio without the engine running.

I bought the Bluetooth Alpine sound processor and hooked it up to the oem system and what a difference my HK system is now that the oem permitters have been essentially removed. I risk the chance of blowing subs and speakers at extremely high volumes for long durations but oh well.

Can you give more info on the Alpine component you’re using? Model number?

I just changed my dash speakers with the infinity 3032 and is an amazing difference as you can tell the stock “Harm Kardon“ speakers that are stamped Chrysler are Crap. I can only imagine that the sub is the same CRAP.

Does anyone know the depth/cf of the HarmanKardon subwoofer box? I wanted to look into upgrading the speakers but don't want to replace the box if I don't have to.

Reviving an old thread but I’d be curious to know more specs on this system as well as what others have replaced/upgraded to...
Cf of sub box and location would be a start. Many good space saving sub designs today that could be a drop in, compared to when I was in car audio 20 years ago

In a mega cab, the stock 8" sub is mounted in a molded enclosure located behind the rear passenger seat. It's in the cargo storage box. In a crew cab, I believe it's against the rear firewall behind the rear passenger seat.

Curious as well - my stock system sounds great, but if its an easy replacement, id love to put a JL in the box.

My '19 crew cab had the sub under the rear seat on the passenger side.

I am curious if replacing the speakers messed with the noise cancellation system. Did you have to do anything besides replacing the speakers?

I'd be interested in a write up on that if you have one
