Harmon Kardon Sub Upgrade

I haven’t had any problems with the noise canceling system (at least I did not notice any issues) and was pretty easy to swap out. Crutchfield says the 6X9 won’t fit the front doors but with the supplied spacers they fit fine.

That is good to hear. I have Infinity Reference 3032s coming in for the dash corner speakers. I am hoping it will brighten up the highs enough to satisfy me. If not, I may go the 6x9 route with Infinity.

I'd be interested in a write up on that if you have one
I would do that but I put the sub in about a year and a half ago and I no longer have the truck to look at. There wasn’t much to it though. I used a JL Audio amp with high level inputs. Power came from the battery through a fuse. I had Aux switches in the truck so I used one of them for the turn-on signal. The signal wires to the original sub are used for the high level input to the amp. I do not remember the color codes for the signal wires. It worked well but I think it would have been better if I used a signal processor to take out the factory EQ curve.

Bumping an old thread here. Do you have any long term updates; still satisfied with the upgrade, anything you'd do different?

Still sounds great. No problems. I still haven’t found a replacement rear Sub tho

I see this sub online but not sure if anyone has bit the bullet to try it. A little pricey but I’m sure it sounds great.

I spoke with Crutcfield about a direct replacement sub and they asked me to send them measurements. I haven’t got around to it yet but I really don’t want to replace the whole box. Crutcfield sounded positive that they could figure out a sub that would be a direct replacement

digging up an ooooold thread, but I'll be adding an aftermarket amp and subs to my 2022 limited as soon as the supplies get dropped off by UPS. Going to tap the stock sub wires for singal, and hope the ANC doesn't throw a fit.

Please post some mpics and detailed info once you're done if you don't mind.

I will do a writeup in my build thread
Interested to read about your build and the results. I just put a set of 3 Hertz DCX 87.3's in the dash of my '21 MegaCab w/HK system and it sounded pretty bad, even after I disabled the ANC mics. Interestingly, it sounded better a couple days later but I'm convinced I need to pull signal before the factory amp and redo the whole shootin match.
When I do it, I'm planning Fox Box to replace the sad factory unit.

When I replaced my stock Haman Karden system with infinity speakers (dash and doors) from Crutcfield i had no problem with the interior noise reduction. I made sure to add the inline bass reduction filters for the dash.. my system still sounds awesome. I ordered a sub from Crutcfield but it didn’t fit and with Crutcfields awesome customer service I was able to return it with no problem. I am still looking for a direct fit replacement sub

Based on what I've read, there is no direct fit replacement sub. I did see somewhere that a guy had built a rather elaborate custom enclosure for his (quad cab?) where it fi in the existing space in the floor. I think he used a 10" JL and seemed happy with the results but I'm definitely not good enough in the shop to build such a box.

My old ears (from years of custom stereos) actually are not offended by the stock '22 HK system in my Limited. Do I want to replace the 8 with 2x 12's,? Yeah! I bought a Mega just for that...told the wife this fact even though she doesn't think I'll follow through.
A group I follow on FB is MTI Acoustics out of College Station, Tx. They are a fer piece from me, and they really cater to the Ford guys, but damn their stuff is incredible. Enough that I'd almost make a vacation trip out of it to align to an install date. $$$ are always the issue.

Wow, they do make nice stuff, thanks for the tip! They're only about 2.5 hours from me but....that's gonna be an expensive trip, lol.

Jimmy - how did the infinity reference comps turn out? did you add an aftermarket amp or run them off the factory setup?

I used the factory wiring with the Metra wire adapters. I Soldered in the provided compisaters and was basicly plug and play. The sound difference was amazing. I was hearing things In the music that I never heard before.
