Just picked up my 24 SO Cummins and 68rfe 3 weeks ago. Its been shifting rough from day one I only have 700 miles on it currently. Seems like if i drive normal or stop sign to stop sign you can feel every single shift. If you drive more aggressively ( highway merging) it shifts smoother up until 4th gear to the point where there's a surge/Delay between neutral and the next gear. Just seeing if anyone else has similar shifting and its just the truck. Came from a 10 speed GM that you couldn't even tell was shifting. But i also have a 5500 Ram chassis cab with an Asin that seems like it shifts smoother throughout. Not sure if the transmission is still in learning or when they normally break in.

If I remember right, mine was a little herky jerky at first, it eventually smoothed out. It is still an HD transmission and shifts as such. I just attributed it to it learning my driving style.

thank you much appreciated

The trans has a learning stage if it does not clear up by 1000 miles then i would have the dealer do a trans relearn.

I turn off the traction control every start, otherwise the truck drives super- wacky.

That's a new one. Sounds more like a wheel speed sensor issue than a trans programming issue.

Either way, something is wrong with the truck.

No…I don’t like the way it drives with the TC on, didn’t like the way that the Ford drove with it either.
The throttle feels different, the trans behaves differently…shifts seem delayed, then sudden and unpredictable.
Always shut TC off in every truck on start up..including the work truck.

If you can tell a difference under normal driving conditions then something is wrong.

I assumed that was just how a 68RFE felt lol.

My friends 2015 with 300K, stock 68RFE, drives exactly the same as my low mileage 22' lol.

Coming to a stop the downshifts are so rough it's crazy, and if you have the exhaust brake on it exacerbates the jerky downshifts to the point I don't even like using the exhaust brake.

Truck drove the same pre-weight loss and post weight loss including a trans re-learn.

Maybe a trans tune would help? Thats funny my 03 47re didn’t shift like that, my fathers 22 68rfe shifts like a dream. Maybe something is up with the valve body being out of spec from production.

Trans is tuned. Truck drove the same pre and post tuning. I'm sure there is probably something wrong with it, it's a 68RFE so kind of a given lol.

Figuring I'm going to give it to 1,000 miles if it still happens ill Bring it back for a re-learn. And if it persists drop it off for a Diagnosis. From what i remember the one i test drove didn't shift like this one.

I would do a relearn again and drive easy for 100-200 miles it should shift smooth as glass after, i hardly feel my shifts even when hard on the pedal. When driving easy i never feel it shift

I'm going to try a re-learn.

The truck upshifts fantastic, normal driving, towing, wide open, have zero complaints about the shifting, it is only when I am coming up to a stop from speed and it downshifts as its slowing down, really clunky, considerably worse if the exhaust brake is enabled.

Not saying nothing is wrong with your tranny
but when I use the exhaust brake, I definitely get stiffer downshifts. Just for comparison sake.
