Halogen to OEM LED swap

Jimmy, I was able to get the windows version to work but no where in there does it show signature lights. To me, it looks the same as the Android version. It did have CBC Config I/O-right dedicated DRL lamp/right signature led lamp present/right front turn signal #2 and the same for the left. I tried those and those did not work.
Also, something I didn't realize at first, there is a search function right above the various options. At least in the android version.

Once you are connected to your BCM with the windows version like you normally would, click advanced mode. Drop down the list of BCMs and select 2020 DJ, then click active diagnostics and go into car configuration change.
Thanks, I was just about ready to ask you if there was a way that I could force it to the 2020 BCM.

Jimmy, When I go into advanced and click on 2020 DJ then click connect, it connects me to RAM 1500/2500/3500/4500/5500 : MY2016-17 PowerNet instead of 2020 DJ.

Don’t click connect again in advanced mode, just go straight to active diagnostics after choosing 2020 DJ
These are the exact steps:
Connect to your BCM in normal mode (let it connect to whatever BCM it connects to) > click advanced mode while connected > drop down menu, choose 2020 DJ > click active diagnostics > select car configuration change > find settings and change them.

thanks, will try that but have to go out for a few hours first.

I contacted retro shop asking if i can just buy the headlights, plug in the harness and be good to go without having to change anything on the computer side. They said I wouldnt have to do anything but plug and play. But what i gather from this thread is that isnt true.
What am i missing?

If you just straight up plug in the LED reflector headlights in place of the halogen headlights without doing anything else, the LED low beams will fail to fire up correctly because of the PWM on that circuit. That’s why it needs to be shut off with AlfaOBD (that’s what the LED light settings do- turn off PWM), or resistors need to be used like the retro shop harness. The turn signals and park lamps will throw bulb out warnings in the EVIC for the same reason. Also, the signature light strips won’t work, which are enabled with AlfaOBD, or fuse tapped on the retroshop harness.

If i understand you properly, if I use their harness, I'll be good to go?

Sorry, I misunderstood when I replied to you- exactly like elephantrider said above- you either need to wire in the retro harness, or just plug them in and configure the bcm correctly, but you can’t just plug them in without doing anything else.

Correct- it’s up to you, but you’ll come out ahead with AlfaOBD. No extra wiring to run, no resistors that get extremely hot, and can potentially fail, and no fuse tap needed.

Ah ok thanks. I know nothing about this AlfaOBD. I'll go back and try to figure it out.

Thanks to this thread I was able to get my LED lights working last night using the Android version. I couldn't get the passenger side signature light to work at first but I just had to find the A5 bed lighting option and that did the trick.

Btw, if anyone needs to wire in some extra running lights, pin 8 on the drivers side headlight plug should be the larger white and brown wire along the bottom row. It's a good source for adding running light LEDs that come on with the parking lamps.

I wish I would have wired them to the signature lights though but I'm not sure which pin that would be on. Anyone know?

Can you share the settings you had to change? I have night edition reflector style headlights ready to install but I can’t get Alfaobd working on my laptop. Maybe I can get it to connect on a android device

If anyone has any insight on this I need some help connecting to my truck. I have the Kaodtech cable, obd link Mx+ and Alfa obd demo version installed on a windows laptop. I’m not a big windows guy I use a iPhone and MacBook but I borrowed this laptop from work. I have the Mx+ paired to the laptop and I’m trying to connect to the body computer but all I get is a please wait message in the status bar. I selected obd link in the advanced settings for the interface. I may need to check the comm settings...

I might try to connect with a android phone today if it’s possible to make the correct changes but from what I was reading activating all the led headlight features need to be done on the windows version
