How big a toy hauler and what weight empty?My HO/Aisin/4.10 dually on a trip to Oklahoma a couple months ago barely broke 10 mpg pulling my empty and dry toy hauler there at 65 mph, and was in the 14s coming back empty at 70-72 mph. My 6.4 gasser got 7.5-8.5 pulling the same toy hauler. Given that I drive very conservatively, especially when towing, I was expecting 1-2 mpg better. When this dang virus thing clears, I will be running this same trip in reverse, retrieving the toy hauler.

It's 41' long, and just under 12K empty. It is built like a horse trailer, though, so it is much lower profile, probably over three feet lower overall than a typical RV type fifth wheel toy hauler.How big a toy hauler and what weight empty?
Have you pulled heavy with it? Does it still pull the same?The emissions update that I just had completed improved my mileage by 10% across the board. It also coincided with Alaska's change from #1 to #2 diesel. I can not get a legit 18mpg out of the truck.
I pulled 18K total with it the day after the re-tune. Pulled fantastic and I hand calc-d at 12.1 mpg. No hills, no wind, only a 200 mile run. Doing the run again tomorrow and will have the same size trailer. I'm running a C.C. LB 3500 SRW with 3.73's. Towing a 25' Diamond C Gooseneck with super singles.Have you pulled heavy with it? I will be interested to see what your actual hand calc mpg is when you fill up. Mine consistently reads 1.5+ mpg higher than actual.20 ram 3500 ho hd drw Aisin 410. im on my first tank and so far I'm at 15 mpg, looks like I'm going to end up around 700 miles on the 50 gal tank. I take off out of the hole with some aggressiveness, then settle in around 75 on the interstate.

I know the new truck will handle it like a champ, but I don't expect a good miles per gal number since in my 16 2500 6.7 rfe hd i only averaged 10 mpg while pulling the 13k fiver. This hohd w/410 has got to be worse.I will be interested to see what your actual hand calc mpg is when you fill up. Mine consistently reads 1.5+ mpg higher than actual.
Pretty much nailed it there. I was dead set on an H.O. Until I started hearing the numbers, then got to thinking, only thing I am lacking is payload in my current truck, and really happy with the pulling and mileage. Yes, they are trucks and aren’t bought for mileage,BUT, I doubt anybody just likes to throw $$$ out the window. I have been looking hard at S.O. 19’s, if I could find one I like with air level. Kinda worried about the unloaded ride without it.I agree to a point, but compare your 04.5, or my old 05 to a Dodge 5.9 gasser or V-10, or better yet to the Ferd or GM stuff of the day. The Cummins outpulled them, and got better mpg to boot. My 19 only gets about 2 mpg better than the overloaded 6.4 Hemi it replaced, and the HOs have dropped to Duramax mpg pulling, and the Ford now gets better mpg. It's indicative of the efficiency of the whole package, and Ram/Cummins has slipped, I am sorry to say. Would I buy the other trucks? Heck no! But I think they better get their act together for the next update. People will only be brand loyal for so long.

I'll add that for commercial operators MPG is a very important consideration, even in Class 8 Semis. Hook one of these HOs onto a DRV or New Horizons, or a high load on a gooseneck at or near GCWR, and these trucks will quickly get the same or WORSE MPG as a Semi.
