For all those flying to Mark Dodge and driving home with 2022 orders

Are you all waiting for the truck to be delivered to MD before booking flights or are you getting updates on status so you have a good idea to book in advance? My truck is now built but I have no idea on status of getting over the border and ultimately to MD. Have you all been getting those kinds of updates from your sales person?

Yes. Absolutely, way too many variables there in flight with the build.

However, all signs are point to this week for me.
Been tracking flights and this close now they have raised to be way expensive.
A few weeks ago when I targeted this week price was like $58... now I am only seeing $358

Priceline has this crazy "Express Deals" but it is kinda a crap shoot; you select the day and the period of day (morning, afternoon, night) and they pick land the flight, carrier & fight, way cheaper, like $158

same thing happened to me back in december, ended up paying almost 600 for the flight and then they changed my flight the day of and almost screwed me.

With the carriers running (less) flights so jammed/overbooked, Inside 7 days is going to be crazy unless you find an off-peak or empty route deal.

I'm also a believer that you need to clear your cookies and/or look from a different device, as they raise prices every time you look trying to get you to bite. I just looked at UA and Denver-IAH is $179 for a redeye Friday morning. $319 for First.

I fly 100% UA (99% work) so price doesn't really matter much if I have to be somewhere, but for personal I'll often pay for the flight instead of burning miles, especially if I need it to make the next level status. Cost us $2,200 for the two of us to fly home for Christmas inside 21 days booking, but the miles seats either weren't available or even crazier or the spend got me to the next level.

If I was doing a $58 one way flight under 2-3 hours, I'd care less about the carrier and pocket the savings.

I bought my ticket after MD had the truck on the lot... in fact, it sat on their lot for almost 2 weeks before I could get things to line up so I could fly down there. My day before flight ticket into Texarkana cost me a little over $500 with all the fees. But with the amount you save buying from MD, it is well worth it.

I've looked at flights to NO and it will change by hundreds of dollars in the matter of a couple days

Sound like I may get lucky. There is flight from Richmond to Lake Charles every Wednesday evening for less than $100, doesn't matter whether its for tomorrow or weeks from now. It must be a realignment flight.

As someone mentioned earlier, clear cookies, use a VPN, use a different browser and even a different device; PC/cell phone/ipad etc. The booking algorithm notes browser cookies, the machine/IP address one is using and jacks up the price if one checks for flights within a certain period of time. The airline booking algorithms are some of the most complicated ever designed and usually defy login or reason. I find it is cheaper to book a round-trip ticket to Europe than a one-way...even if I'm only going one way! I just don't use the return ticket. Stuff like that has to wreck havoc on the airlines metrics and seat count, but tough. Crazy!

Personally I waited for it to be delivered. Even with getting constant status updates somethings can't be controlled. My truck sat at the port for almost 3 weeks waiting to get delivered to the dealership. With a limited number of drivers there is absolutely no way to tell if it will take 1 day, 1 weeks, or more. Unless things have changed since December.

How much fuel was your truck delivered with?

Random question - I see a lot of people flying into Houston instead of New Orleans, is it because Houston is closer (50 miles-ish less to Houston) or cheaper (or both) to fly into?

I believe MD will meet you with the truck at the Houston airport. So it could potentially save you some mileage and time as well as get you a bit cheaper flight. I'm going to see if they will meet in Shreveport LA as it would put me closer to home.

Fuel light was about on, lol. The delivery driver apologized , but that’s what they sent him out with. Truck said 181 miles on the ram app when they left mark dodge and it’s 138 miles to the airport. They picked me up at arrivals and we went to the first fuel station.

I had about 1/8 tank in mine, but that was after they drove 250+ miles to drop it off to me.

They will deliver up to 250 miles from the dealership for free. I got them to go just a tab bit further and deliver it to me at the Texarkana airport.
