I purchased a 2023 3500 ram 6.7 tradesman with 70,000 miles but got a good deal. Or so I thought. After driving for only 2000 miles my check engine light came on and a message appeared that my exhaust filter was full decreased power see dealer. After reading some on this I tried to get it to regenerate by driving 40 plus for about 30 minutes but it didn't regenerate. I took to dealer and found out it was too high to regenerate and it would have to be replaced 11g per inch of soot. They also informed me that the dealer I purchased it from 6 months earlier had to put in a new Turbo before selling (they knew this upon checking VIN) and due to high milage should of did a regeneration at that time and that I should go after dealer for a violation of the Federal Lemon Law. Any opinions or ideas 3900 plus to have it replaced.

How do they effectively clean the DPF if the DOC is welded on in front of it? Cut it open, clean, and then re-weld?
They cut it off at the weld on the DPF clean and reweld. It sucks they don't have a clamp in filter like the big trucks and equipment do but it still works and a ton cheaper than a new one

The year is irrelevant 70,000 is not high millage for any vehicle let alone a diesel.
70,000 miles on a one to two year old truck is a lot of miles. While not technically “high mileage” it is a lot of miles to be racked up on vehicle in such a short period of time.

Never said it wasn’t a lot of miles in a short period of time

Hated the Transfarces so much wanted to burn them off as fast as possible …and maybe a few trips for milk and bread. ;)

No, I did not have them pull it off, service tech did a manual regeneration and then lied to the computer saying it was replaced. When we pull it all I will have it in my hands and then see if it can be cleaned out. Going a different way with this.

Pictures would be great if you can grab some.
My suspicion is that it isn’t plugged with ash, but rather it’s either face plugged from low rpm cycle times or there’s a malfunction somewhere causing it not to regenerate properly.

Out of curiosity what specific brand of engine oil and which viscosity were you using for the past 70k miles?

Exactly what the manufacturer said to put in, when the oil life came close to the end I changed the oil, usually the rotela oil.
