I am looking to tune my 2020 but it looks like there is not a lot of info out there about the people that do it. On the list so far is Firepunk and Calibrated Power. I have read a lot about CP but not much about FP but looks like they have been doing this for a long time also. Just trying to see what you all have been using.

TIA.

Mine lost all the parts right away and I like the added power and torque especially when towing long distance and long grades.
I hear ya but how do you handle the soot (particulate junk)? Diesel engine producers have been investing millions in clean diesel tech for regulatory stuff and to appease the increasing number of influential advocates that would like nothing more than to relegate diesel engines to history's scrap heap. Roll'n coal is kinda kewl but we can't win the war against the progressive azz hats by deleting emissions equip in our lust for more HP and torque. Just sayin...

a good clean tune will produce little to no haze. with the high rail pressure and injector spray patterns, these new truck are miles ahead of the older diesels as far as soot. my truck is really clean, but it does have a great tune on it.

I don't doubt that an emissions (DPF, DEF) deleted, late model diesel engine can run relatively clean compared to the days of old considering the advances in fuel delivery. However, and notwithstanding that the EPA is an example of bureaucracy gone mad, would it be a pass with that agency? You and I know the answer to that. I sincerely wish we lived in a world where the odd, deleted diesel Ram/Dodge was all the rage and the general populous wouldn't be any wiser. Reality don't support that notion, though. I don't have to contend with the the EPA but do, on occasion, endure Gen X-Y-Z disdain when the truck is idling outside the grocer and the OAT is -30. They're disdain is rooted in diesel = dirty and they're myopic view of the world doesn't allow them to comprehend that diesel engine emissions of late, are in many cases cleaner than their gasoline powered counterparts. Besides, it's not about keeping the cabin warm, I'm just keeping the batteries charged... ;)

Just an update. I went with calibrated power. Installed the 110/180 tune and the truck drives so much better now. I will give it a week and maybe try the 160/300 tune.

Just came back from a drive. These trucks are torque monsters. Never though a 8k truck could move like this. Im already looking forward to driving it tomorrow.

How is the (untunable) Aisin reacting with the tune?
Its doing very well. I only had 500 miles on the truck so it was a bit hard but now I have 2500 miles and it is much more smooth. I think my main problem was me just learning to drive the aisin. Im so used to just stomping down the gas but with this truck, I just slowly push the peddle in and the truck will put all the power down for me. The tune will also let me keep the EB setting on all the time so I dont have to keep turning it on each time I get in the truck. CPS said they are still working on trying to tune the Aisin so we will just have to wait and see.

Thanks for the update. Did you delete or are you running a emission compliant tuning. Not actually sure if CP offers such a tune???
Are there any tuners that will leave no trace in the computer? Looking to run an emission compliant tune and keep all the parts in place for warranty purposes. Maybe EFI Live?? I think it works as buffer in between the truck's sensors output and a PCM so it sort of modifies the signals to change PCM parameters... Or did i get that wrong, any ideas?

It's really not. I was WOT going over Steven's pass to maintain speed limit with our 13k lb toy hauler. The new 5th wheel is going to be pushing 20klbs. My tuned 2012 pulled the same trailer up this much easier and hit better mpg doing so.
Mine handles the 13k on inclines great but I hit the bottom running Between 80-85 and I put that turbo to work.

CPS offers emissions on tuning. And if you have to go in for service just unplug the ezlynk. I have seen emissions on get any warranty work done also I have seen deleted trucks get warranty work done. Cps is a great tuner for emissions on. I have had there tuning in many of my trucks and there tuning is spot on.

I always ran a tuner (smarty) on my 03 and now have a 2020 HO SRW. Any thought on the calibrated power setup would be appreciated. I will not delete to avoid any emissions testing hassles but don’t want to damage my system either. I have been looking at calibrated power for a mild tune. I don’t want to have to watch my egt’s like a hawk though like I did on my old truck either. ( I assume a egt gauge will be needed.) any MPg improvements seen tuned? Thanks all for your input!

The numbers I have seen from folk who ran tuners on the older trucks were not as good as a stock HO Aisin truck. Talking about road trucks not race trucks or trucks that never pull.

So what does a tuner do on a newer HO Cummins? I already get up to 80 too quick with my 12k 5th wheel. And I usually do not speed with a trailer behind me.

It will give it a bump in power. I have been running CPS sport tune since 200 miles and my mpg is better at least 2-6 higher hand calculated. It reduces def and egr usage.

What did your tuner cost? Does it leave a footprint or items installed?

If they want to look hard enough yes but otherwise I didn’t remove anything. I have had warranty work done 6 times so far and no ones cares they really can’t tell it’s tuned. Since when I take it in I flash it to modified stock which is a bump in power. And it was like 2k roughly and took me like maybe an hour to do it all from start to finish. If you want to get set up just message me and I’ll send you who I got it from.

Nah, I'm good. I'll have my 55 gallon Titan tank installed, or maybe do it myself if I have time . That will give me the fuel range I want and that's about it. My vehicles tend to stay stock unless something breaks. Then I try to fix/repair/upgrade it once.

Is that $2K including the CTS3? Looking at CPS site it looks to run about $1400 or so with all the add ons (without CTS3 of course). Is something missing from what they have listed that needs to be added that bumps it up to $2k? Did you consider the MM3 since it has gauges?
