Digital Rear View Mirror

That guide is a bit odd
If it’s not working then maybe try both switched ignition wires one at a time and if that don’t work then tie them together
Hey. I put 2 taps on the orange and red 12v power wire at the same time. Tested the with the volt meter and had 12 volts and mirror still didn’t turn on. I wasn’t sure if you can put two taps on the same wire. I tied one at a time and nothing. Very lost maybe the ground is not on right or a blew a fuse but I have power when the ignition is one. Tested it with the volt meter. So if fuse was blown probably wouldn’t get any volts. Feel very defeated.
put your test light ground on the ground wire you are using and see if you get 12 volts .
I don’t like those vampire taps as loose connections happen a lot

That’s what I did. I grounded the meter ground to the oem ground and tested the power cables. Got 12 volts when ignition was on. I don’t get it. I hope I didn’t wasted all that money. I didn’t have the battery disconnected. I hope that didn’t cause the problem. I need to test the gentex 16 pin for power. But have nothing small enough to get in the female pin connecter.

This might sound stupid but make sure the wire going into the vampire tap is actually going in and not going down the plastic side of the tap

Any advice is greatly appreciated not stupid. It’s funny because when I was taken a look at the connecters a couple weren’t centered. I hope I am dumb and that’s the problem. Not likely. To easy of a fix for me. I probably take a look at this tomorrow. Very defeated right now. I want to test the 12 pin connector. Need something small to fit in the female end.

Don’t worry I’ve done this before so that’s why I brought it up .
Let’s hope this is all it is .
Cheers

Thanks. I bought a lead kit so I can test the gentex 12 connector. Comes tomorrow. I really hope I can get this mirror to work. With help from you and anyone else. I purchased wolfbox mirror and returned it for the gentex mirror. Probably should’ve kept it. Wife is going to kill me for wasting that kind of money if I have to get the wolfbox again. I like the oem look. Jimmy07 any suggestions.

So when you use this gentex mirror your side mirrors will loose the auto dimming function if you had that I’m guessing ?

I never installed it. I returned after buying the gentex. So I have no idea. When I drive my 26 I don’t even notice the side mirrors dimming. On my 24 3500 limited I noticed it. Strange. But if I can’t get the gentex to work I will probably buy the wolfbox. To get the 3.0 oem tow camera kit with the camera module is a lot of work to get a digital mirror working. I wish it was plug and play like before. On my 22 3500 I added the digital mirror. Very easy.

The 3.0 is very easy to install; I've sold many of them for the 23-26. It only requires power for the CVPM module of the mirror. I even installed it on a 1500

I've lost count of how many posts I've read about installing the DRVM in a normal auto-dim truck... I need help understanding what path I should take if I decide to do this installation.

My 2024 Laramie has the standard auto-dim three mirrors (oddly turned off at the factory, I just figured that out and turned it on with all the morons here using high beams all the time). Has the 360 system, no FCW, no adaptive cruise.

I understand 23/24 have a different system from older models that adds additional cameras in the sideview mirrors that I don't have (only the 360 cameras, not applicable).

I couldn't care less about the sideview mirror cameras, or CHMSL camera. With so many people crowing about leaks at their CHMSLs I'd rather not mess with mine anyway. All I want is an elegant trailer reverse camera system.

Obviously I don't have the input at the left of the plate in the bumper.

Is it possible to just get an older 21-22 mirror with 1-2 inputs, no FCW or adaptive cruise, program the truck so the autodim still works, and add the bumper connection? I can't for the life of me find posts from anyone simply adding the DRVM and bumper camera connection. No desire to go to the trouble and expense of the CHMSL cam or mirror cams or underseat module.

At this point I feel like it's all more trouble than its worth and I should get a standard wireless RV camera and screen (Furrion and the like) that I can tuck into the console when not towing and leave it at that, even if it means traveling with another screen like I wanted to avoid.
