Digital Rear View Mirror

I have a 21 3500 limited with the digital rearview mirror. I do not have a plug on my bumper but I looked under the bumper and have a cord with a plug tied up under it. I am wonder if that could be the cord that would go to the plug for the camper camera.

Look at the LH rear lower outside of the cab, between the bed, and see if you have a cable connection as shown in in red on the photo attached.
Also attached is photo of plug for the digital camera connection at the bumper.

Question for Jimmy07 when you have a chance please.

On the 2nd post in this thread, you stated:
"One thing to note- If you have auto high beams, but you don’t have the DASM (adaptive cruise, FCW), you will lose the auto high beam feature by swapping in the digital mirror."

I'm ok with losing the auto high beams, but do I need to disable the function with AlfaOBD when installing the DRVM or does it simply stop working and no error codes posted?

Thanks

You won’t get a check engine light, but there will be faults stored in the BCM, so I would just configure with AlfaOBD for no AHBM.

Ok
So does that mean that a 22 truck with factory installed RDVM and without ACC & FCW will not have the AHBM feature?
Or is the AHBM disabled only on trucks that have non factory installed DRVM ?

Thank you

Correct, the DRVM w/out ACC & FCW does not have AHBM.

This is correct.
I have a 22 power wagon level 2 with DRVM and without ACC and FCW. Would I be able to add AHBM? I know it can be enabled but would I be able to physically add it by building a stand alone harness? This has bothered me since I purchased the truck. I didn’t know the digital mirror canceled it out and RAM does a horrible job of letting you know some standard features are not available with certain options. Thanks.

Yes, you can definitely add auto high beams if you have the digital mirror and want to keep it. You just have to add adaptive cruise control…

I really appreciate the reply! I would love to have ACC and all the other safety options for that matter but not sure I want to dive that deep into it. What all would I need to add ACC if you don’t mind?

You would need the steering wheel cruise control switch, the DASM (adaptive cruise camera), windshield with DASM mount, and different mirror jumper harness.
I forgot I have another thread going with details on what’s needed, but I keep forgetting to reply with a detailed writeup on it. I’ll try to get around to it after the new year.

Like I said, I really appreciate the help. You do so much for this forum.

I believe this is the part you’re looking for- 68519044AA
This should be the jumper that exits the cab (the one end he shows in the video under the truck first, and the other end is the orange end he found disconnected).
That’s the only separate cable part number for the tow mode camera. The rest, you’ll have to buy aftermarket fakra RG58 cables, because the other factory sections are part of the headliner harness, body harness, and chassis harness.

Thank you Jimmy07

I ordered that p/n and just received it today, see attached photo.
Though my truck does not have the digital mirror, the Fakra cable that follows the LH frame rail to the rear bumper is there.
There is also a short Fraka on the LH rear inside cab that ends just before the headliner and goes down to connect with this wire I just got.
So now I have a complete Fakra connection from the rear bumper all the way to the upper LH rear side of the headliner.

I also purchased the correct 2022 CHMSL and DRVM, I just need to figure out what type and length of the two Fraka cables I will need to feed under the headliner to connect to the DRVM and CHMSL.

Been looking for a wire routing diagram to make sure, but I think both cables should be routed along the LH side under the headliner.

Out of curiosity (and because I'm too lazy to go searching for parts right now) what's did all the parts cost you so far?

68519111AA DRVM $540.57
68465998AA CHMSL $263.00
68519044AA jumper wiring $25.35 (connects cab to frame shown in my post #182)
68527599AA tow mode camera kit $349.99 (ebay)

I just need to figure out the length and gender of the two Fakra cables I need order, and confirm the bumper receptacle p/n for the trailer tow camera cable connection.
I'm guessing these last three pieces will cost around $100

Keep in mind that the DRVM and CHMSL numbers I posted are specific to my truck's configuration.
Look over Jimmy07's previous posts before you start ordering parts and end up with the wrong ones.

Just completed this upgrade on my 22 Laramie, piece of cake.

As Jimmy07 stated above on post #184, the BCM posted error code U0213 after I disconnected the original mirror.
I used AlfaOBD to change BCM, Car configuration, VehConfig 1: , Auto Highbeam: to No and no more error code.

In the Uconnect vehicle settings lights menu, the option to enable AHBM is still present.

question for Jimmy07:

Should I go into BCM, Car configurator, Cust.Set.Menu 1: and change Auto High Beam CSM Present: from Yes to No ?

That's typically 2 things that go hand in hand with adding (or deleting) options.

Yes, that is logical and exactly what I assumed.

However... after changing both parameters in the BCM from YES to NO, the Uconnect settings menu is still displaying the option to enable or disable the AHBM function. Even after an ign off/on cycle.

It takes a while for any settings changes that have to do with the radio settings to happen. It’ll be gone tomorrow.
