That's true, but if you don't have a gasket, you're asking for trouble...
Nah, they are reusable and aren’t known to be an issue.

Doing mine today. What a pain in the dick. The studs are way longer than they need to be and the threads are all boogered up from the factory
I’m at 43k miles. I was going to change it at 50 but you talked me into doing it earlier.Interesting. I don’t recall there being any issues when I did mine.
I’m currently at 18 months (17K miles) on my diff fluid, so I’m torn on changing it or not for warranty reasons. I do tow, but the definition of “frequent” leaves a lot of room for interpretation. Even under severe service the gear lube I run is rated for 50K miles (I’ve been running it at 100K mile normal service intervals on our 4Runner and it comes out almost like new).

The threads weren’t visually damaged or anything but the majority of the bolts/studs were very tight all the way out and all the way back in.Interesting. I don’t recall there being any issues when I did mine.

I thought it seemed thin, the color was dark caramel. There was some shimmery specks but nothing out of the ordinary for an lsd oil change especially since it’s been in there since new.How did the fluid look and feel (you know how scientific that is)… I won’t ask how it smelled.
Your diff will appreciate new fluid.
4qts filled it up to 1/4” below spilling out based on the wire dipstick method. Seems like it’s ok anywhere in that range from what I can tell so I left it there.
Chat are we agreeing that 1/4” below the fill hole is within spec?
