Differential Maintenance Interval?

How much fluid is y’all’s rear ends taking? Amsoil site has a resource for capacity and says 8.5 pints (4.25qt) The owners manual states type but not capacity.

That sounds right from what I remember.

Also, it’s full before it runs out of the fill port. There is a post here about the correct fill level (IIRC in the +2019 forum).

I see on amsoil it says 6.8 and 8.8 for srw. How would I know which amount I need if I have 3.73 with LSD.

I bought 5 quarts, I’ll let you know how much it takes. Unless you beat me to it, in which case you can let me you.

I bought 8 quarts in total I will reassess how much I use versus what I need for the front then. I plan on doing the rear on Thursday or Friday! I’ll let you know

I used 4 quarts and it was just almost a 1/4” short of the inspection hole. First order from amsoil was actually 4 quarts and not 5 like I thought. Once I realized that I ordered more and they’re being delivered today (shortly actually) so once I get that I’ll add a tad bit more.

Actually per the owner’s manual. I’m within tolerance if I understand it correctly. “
To check the axle fluid, park the vehicle on a level

surface. Take a piece of wire (or zip tie) and make a

90 degree bend two inches from the end of the wire.

Insert the wire into the fill plug hole and use it like a

dipstick. Remove the wire and measure from the 90

degree bend to the oil level.

For the 2500 (Non-Power Wagon) axles, the fluid level

should be 4/5 in ± 1/4 in (20.3 mm ± 6.4 mm) below

the fill hole for the rear axle and it should be 1/4 in ±

1/4 in (6.4 mm ± 6.4 mm) below the fill hole on the

front axle.”

I actually measured wrong the first time with the zip tie. I went back to double check and accurately measured 2 inches with a zip tie and got it within a 1/4” of the bottom of the fill hole. I was a little shy so I added a tad bit more. About an 1/8th of a quart. I don’t really have a level surface around here so I ate my daily dose of crayons and got it as close as I could to level.not sure if it was because of user error as in didnt get everything out of the quart bags and spilled a little. Or if it truly needed like 4 and an 1/8 quarts. Didn’t think I spilled that much or wasn’t able to get everything out but as I found out last week I am now 2 fluid Changes in a row with spilling fluids

All except where the bolts that are also studs for the what I assume is a brake line bracket. Also, inconvenient the rear sway bar is in the way of two more. But, as soon as I get the boogie bumps or sumos the rear sway bar will be posted on offer up.
