The two plugs on the bumper are for the proximity entry sensor 2 wire and the trailer tow pressure monitor 4 wire. The set of wires above the spare are run into the cab for either battery or ignition power depending your needs

This is correct and I used all three a couple of days ago. One thing I did though was repin the connector under the dash so that big 12 gauge red/white wire is on one of my upfitter aux switches. The smaller gauge wire, (16g?), I left as it was set up on my truck, ignition switched 12v. Not sure why Ram made that wire is so much smaller than the red/white one. I extended the third wire for the shell brake light to an easier to access location. Now all I need is for my ARE shell ordered back in February to arrive.

Without cutting and taping in to the harness you are out of luck in that location the curt adapter would be the easiest option without tapping wires
 
I may be wrong but doesnt the snow chief package put wires under the hood to tie into for a snow plow. That should have a running light wire unit if your truck is equipped.

How about anything from under the hood where I can pull power for the running lights? I will be pulling some 2 AWG marine wire back from the battery area so if I found a place under the hood to power the running lights that would be just fine also.

Will it be on a plug to the camper you could always just tap in to trailer running light fuse at the fuse box

That Y-cable would come in handy if you wanted to also add some reverse lighting. Just saying. It's $30 well spent for nearly plug and play.
 
As @Brutal_HO mentioned..... The Y connector can be used for several applications, reverse light-running lights-high mount break light on camper- DC power into the camper... No messing with factory wiring and using connectors that eventually could lead to problems. I used one and removed the 4-pin connector, shortened up the harness and use it for a reverse light as well as added leads for future use.
