Only happen if you let the truck sit for a year and a half without running it , and even then not in the lines just the top of the tank if its not full. Dealer is totally fool of crap on failures with cheap def ! All def is made to the iso standard. We have tractors running def and they sit for 9 months sometimes without being used and we have never had a issue is 8 years.Hi All... In reading through many posts it seems that there is very little care about DEF brand. I am new to the DEF need, and came from the 2004.5 Duramax. It was a hard decision to come to the RAM line as I have been a Chevy truck guy all of my life. In switching brands, I now am learning how to work with and whether to trust a new dealership. The jury is still out on my feelings about them, and that is why i am commenting in this thread.
My sales guy went out of his way to make sure I knew to use the Mopar brand DEF. He claimed that they have seen several issues with the DEF crystalizing in the lines, plugging up the system. He claims in every case it was from the owner using cheap DEF fluid. He gave me the "I absolutely don't care if you purchase it here" line, but be sure to only use Mopar brand DEF. He further stated "We have not had one truck have an issue that was using Mopar brand"....
Ok, i know a line when i hear it, but has anyone heard of this crystalizing issue from using non mopar brand DEF?
Thanks for any insight you may have!
