CP4 to CP-ISB21S3 (revised CP3) change for 2021 6.7L Diesel Trucks -- Merged Threads

I’m new on the scene and admittedly I haven’t done enough research, but are most “in the know” agreeing that a fix IS in the works?
I need another truck, but if this is going to be the way stellantis is going to roll, I may be rolling to another truck manufacturer....
The fix is supposed to be the CP3 in the 2021s but they have only been out there 6 months or so. Time will tell. Whether it gets applied to the 19s and 20s is the real question.

At this point, it's all speculation what, if anything, they will do.

It's a moot point on the 21+ with the reincarnate CP-ISB21S3 version of the CP3.

I got great money for my trade! They are giving me almost $4k over blue book for my 2019 3500 srw night edition
Did they also give you a great discount on the new one? % off #? I’m considering the trade to a 2021...

Fingers crossed. I have a lot of aftermarket dollars wrapped up in my truck. Dollars I will lose if I decide to sell it because they don't take care of us.

Samesies.

Still have another easy $3k+ to add even with all the stuff in the sig.

Agree. I've been a little slow to keep doing (mostly electrical) stuff for fear I may want to trade up. Then again, orders would appear to be closed for 21, and it's not looking good for any major changes for 22 (cab&trans) so I might as well stick it out and see if they come through with a recall/TSB action for us.

The pump is my only gripe. The rest of the truck does everything I need and I make full use of all it's capabilities.

Would be cheaper for me to swap a CP3 than trade to something else and the bond with this one has already formed.

They fix the pump and I'll be cloud 9 with it. The emissions system will be the only untrustworthy thing and can't blame them for that as all modern trucks get saddled with that garbage.

I was hours away from ordering a steel winch bumper and the Sherpa Stallion winch. Delaying it until I know what will happen. That’s a lot of money and effort without knowing about the fix. Love my truck, pulls like a freight train engine. Comfortable and spacious.

I know the feeling. I have about 4K in upgrades, bumpers, 55 gal fuel tank I'm holding off on until I hear what they are going to do....If its nothing, then that $ goes to a CP3 conversion kit... If they fix it, I'll have to jump in the air like the old Toyota commercial and get some good stuff for it..;)

Yep. I'm drooling over getting this bumper & winch. Not a decoration, I actually need it! I already have aluminum flatbed, 40K hitch with 3” ball, 4 aluminum tool boxes and an 88 gallon fuel cell with electric pump....

I work in the law enforcement field as a civilian and took a crash report with a RAM with a HD bumper, head on crash. RAM ok except L/F axle damage, other vehicle complete loss.( both vehicles no injuries some how) Steel bumper had a few scratches but not bent or anything. RAM 50 MPH, other vehicle turning at 10 MPH cross a 2 lane highway. I'm a believer now...As soon as the CP4 issue is done, she's getting the real bumpers...;)

FWIW:

[screen grab mentioning July as date]
God I hope they come out with something before then. The only two issues I've got with this truck are AC and CP4 concerns. If I didn't already have 10k worth of suspension and tires, not to mention radio and other stuff, installed I'd just swap for an 18 or 21 and be done with it. I don't mind spending the money on a CP3 but by god do I wish it was taken care of. I'd love to get this thing tuned but I'm not touching it till I get the glitter bomb fixed.

Lucky for me I just picked up my dream car (66 continental for anyone interested) so I'll have something to toss money at for the summer. Come the fall though if there is no answer then I'll pay to CP3 swap and that will be the last thing I buy from FCA sadly.

ho hum still waiting..... having equatity in my truck l am starting to lean toward GMC since they have done away with this nightmare!
Nothing worse then thinking about catastrphic failure on a long road trip, to me its stressful and distractive

To everyone saying that only GM have moved away from the glitter bomb need to understand that Ram has done so as well with the 21's.. just did not offer a retro fit for the previous couple years yet (note GM never retrofit either previous pumps). It is unfortunate that RAM had to run the CP4 trial and error at all but atleast we have trucks by a company that has each year worked to fix or remedy the issue at hand. I honestly cannot think of many times a manufacturer gives more than 1 solid crack at fixing an issue before giving up.

Lets hope they do a retrofit with the new pumps...

Maybe we do really all need to hit up the NHTSA site and make complaint....
Check out this article......https://jalopnik.com/a-huge-recall-is-on-for-the-new-kia-soul-and-kia-seltos-1846730445
Says in part....These defects can make the engine stall and if drivers are on the road at the time, it could lead to an accident. You wouldn’t want your engine to stall, say, when driving up an on-ramp or when overtaking on the highway........

I have read a couple of guys whom had their pump go......and they were able to coast to the side of the road.......no imagine doing that down a mountain pulling 25K.........
If they are worried about it in a KIA, imagine a 3500 Dully with 30K behind it.........also if our engine stalls, we lose power assisted steering and brakes....and the engine brake.........

If after the end of May, and no recall is done by FCA, then that will be the way to go.
