Convex mirror adjustment

Scratching my head here... I recently picked up my factory ordered 2020 2500 Big Horn. Level 2 equipment including the power tow mirrors.

The drivers armrest does not have the convex mirror button to allow adjustment of the outer portion of the mirrors. The main mirrors adjust normally but I can’t switch to convex. They also don’t seem to move by hand. Am I missing something?

So is there no other way to adjust the convex? I just want to make sure I’m not crazy before I go back to the dealer.

I would guess you should still be able to manually adjust them, but I believe the power spot mirror adjustment is included with the tow mirrors in all trim levels, so they should make it right. I'd go to the dealer before fiddling with it, or at least speak to them, and have them confirm your thinking.

Ok thanks. I pushed some on the edges of the mirrors and they didn’t move at all. I’m wary of breaking anything. Will see what they say.

On my 2020 RAM 3500 Tradesman I assumed the convex mirrors were manual. Il have to go back to the manual. New, they are stiff to move.

I have the Bighorn with the same switch setup, the convex mirrors are manual adjust, the L&R adjust the main mirror, and the center button between L&R is the power folding feature folding the mirrors in or out.

You are looking for the GU8 mirrors, but have the GP1 mirrors. The only way to get the GU8 mirrors on the Big Horn is get the Towing Technology Package or the Surround View Camera which also comes in the Technology Package. The GU8 mirrors include the Power Convex and the Trailer View cameras that also do the Surround Camera functions. Trucks equipped like this are very hard to find on the lot and is the main reason I went with the Laramie. I know it sounds silly but a lightly optioned Laramie that I found was about $1k MSRP cheaper than a highly optioned Big Horn I was planning on ordering and came with the mirrors that I wanted, ventilated leather seats, and some other cool stuff. I even found a Laramie with a bench. My truck is a unicorn.

Here a couple of screenshots from the brochure:

First is from Page 41, and shows the GP1 mirrors (included with both the Level 1 & Level 2 Big Horn Package).

Next is from Page 42, and shows the GU8 mirrors,

Sorry OP. I have no idea why they do this. Seems like carrying so many different mirrors would cost more than just putting the same mirrors on every truck but what do I know? I am just a guy obsessed with cool mirrors. LOL.
From my research on the forums, the mirrors can be added, along with the control panel, but the cost is kind of outrageous ($2k?). Either way, your convex mirrors should move. Maybe they are tight. Take it to the dealer and make them show you how to adjust them at the very least.

Ok makes sense now. Not a big deal to manually adjust if that’s how it is. Thanks everyone. Silly me assuming all power tow mirrors would be the same!

I guess I have been to cheap all these years to purchase a truck that had the power adjust for the convex mirrors. The manual show they are available. Not sure what trim level, but they are in the manual.

I didn't realize my convex mirrors were power adjust until I read the manual. I adjusted them by hand on the dealer lot when I picked it up. Did not seem to hurt anything. They still work fine. When I moved them by hand I could feel the resistance like the gears were turning.

Mine are indeed manually adjustable. Just a little stiff being new. Thanks all for the replies.

just took a set of 22 ram mirrors apart that were manual fold and convex. power memory and heat and believe it or not they are power convex they just dont add the switch in the truck.

Thats pretty odd considering my 19 mirror is not power adjustable and no hard parts inside for it to become adjustable, i had another driver show me the internals to my mirror a little over a year ago

Mine has wires going to the spot mirror and truck does not have power convex. I purchased power fold mirrors with power convex looks exactly the same.

I wonder if the power convex could be connected to my auxiliary switches to enable them to be power adjusted with the regular mirror switch?
