I hope that the ttpms is going to be provided free of charge to us.
I would be very surprised if this occurred... I'd be surprised if they even offered a discount.
I hope that the ttpms is going to be provided free of charge to us.
My wife and I ordered ours on April 4th after we heard about the "Towing Technology, I was ready to buy a Ford, maybe I should have but the Cummins engine is the best. Anyway we ordered a "Limited" 3500 SRW with the "AAN" option (Towing Technology). The truck was delivered Jun 24th. From the dealer order sheet to the window sheet all costs matched except for the limited option code and the towing technology option code, make a note there are no option codes on the window sticker so it is not possible to cross check to the order sheet except by cost. The limited option on the order sheet was $2995, the towing technology option wa $445, on the window the Limites cost was $3440, interesting how they 2 codes add up to the window sticker cost. I have been asking the dealer to help with understanding how to set up the trailer tire monitoring and trailer camera. Needless to to say post sales are useless. I have called the GM and no response. I have called customer care and was told those options are not on our vehicle, even though when we ordered it it was ordered at the dealership. Costomer care told me it is a dealer problem (BS). The AAN code is no longer shown on the RAM build site and there is no mention of TTPMS but they do have an option for trailer camera wiring. There are no codes shown on the build site. Interesting though the Limited level 1 option package includes "Trailer Reverse Guidance" that uses your trailer cameras (plural). If I cannot get this resolved real soon I will be starting a formal complaint with my state AG.Lodged a formal complaint with customer care today, Also have a call into the dealer who is bringing it up to the RAM rep. I have zero expectations for it to go anywhere but who knows...
I have not filed a formal complaint yet with my State AG, still hoping the dealership comes through, but they have not been very helpful so I tried a manager at a different dealer where we have purchased before. He was extremely helpful after I ate crow for not buying from them. Anyway here is what I was told after he looked at my VIN. I have a Limited model with the 12 inch screen, (ordered the AAN option) it is already prepped for the TTPMS, all I need are the sensors installed on my trailer. Could it really be that easy? So he ordered them for me, cost $244. He said that if I go into the apps and see that there is a listing for 4 trailers then I am prepped and I do see this, so for now I trust what he says is factual. My trailer is in for warranty work so when I get it back I will have the sensors installed on the trailer and see if it is that easy.
I also asked about the trailer camera. I also see the Aux camera on the trailer app but is under intensified. I do not have the trailer wiring installed, it is $395 plus installation. The camera is extra and is hard wired. The drawback is that it only works when backing up. He said that federal law does not allow the camera to be displayed on the manufacturers screen while driving since it is considered a distraction. I asked if he could contact a RAM representative to confirm this and he will but he said the description states it is a backup guidance camera. So for now I will keep the camera system with a separate monitor that came with the trailer that I can turn on while driving so I see drivers behind me when I go to change lanes while towing.
The service manager showed me where the trailer set up is located. He said the sensor should be in in 2 weeks, seems like a long time but I have to wait until I get my trailer back. Once I have the sensors installed on the trailer all I need to do is have them flash the computer to tell it that there are trailer sensors. I am hoping that is all it takes. I trust this manager as a knowledgeable person. I will follow up after I get them installed. You see a listing for 4 trailers in the apps? Can you upload a picture?
How do you know if you have the prep package? I have a full load 3500. I knew about the camera before I ordered it back in March. Just want to know what to look for to see if I just need the camera or both?Hi everyone,
We did receive word back on your questions. TTPMS is coming soon but we have not been given a release date. Regarding Aux Camera Prep, trucks that do not have the Aux Camera Prep package installed are still able to to have it added. This option is something customers would have had to pay for whether it came from the factory or the dealer. We hope this provides some clarification and we are always available via private message should you need any assistance!

I purchase the tire sensors and had them installed. Then every attempt was made to establish the connection from the sensors to the truck. The service manager investigated this and discovered that the 2 components for the trailer tire pressure monitoring system "DO NOT EXIST" He checked my truck for them. The truck has the wiring and the brackets for them. He checked the service repair manuals, there is one component in front of the rear bumper and one behind the headliner at the back of the cab. When he checks the parts catalog there is no listing for these parts, hence they "DO NOT EXIST".
All this talk of late availability is becoming a big joke played on loyal RAM owners.
My sales rep has been attending training and has come back with the same information that this system is coming but he does not get a straight answer as to whether it will be installed free for those that, by RAM's options, ordered this system. and again it will be late availability, he gets no time line for what "LATE AVAILABILITY IS". Even today if you order a Limited model, the option for the Limited states trailer tire monitoring, but how can that be if the parts for the system do not exist?
So how late is late availability, we are at the end of the year, the 2020s are coming out, seems "LATE" is going to be late if not never. I have been waiting since April and there have been others waiting even longer.
This is becoming RAM's way of destroying its Loyal Customer Base, driving them to other brands simply because they jumped the gun in offering a system that has not been developed or manufactured. I consider this a fraud committed against those of us that purchased this option.
I too am trying to find out more so i sent an Email to Rod Romain. He is the Engineer in the video explaining how to set up the TTPMS on the new 2019 RAM HD. Here is what he said.

Yes it was available late in 2019 and is also available on 20 model year trucks. Some of the market confusion was assuming it was a standard feature. It is an optional feature and as such needs to be selected when ordering a truck.

The TTPMS option isn't available in the online "build your vehicle" configurator, and my dealer was unable to find an option for it in their 2020 configurator. Rod may believe it is available, but it is not actually available, yet. The 2020 marketing material on Ram's web site still says "Late availability" (see picture below).

I had it on my order but when I received a printout (which RamCare won’t provide anymore) said it was dltd. Mark on this site from RamCare said my 50gal fuel tank was on it but the TPMS will be a late 2020 additionWell, I may be wrong about the 2020 TTPMS. I was looking at the 2019 capabilites page. Upon closer inspection, the 2020 capabilities page does list the TTPMS system as available.

Look at 2nd line from bottom. L8aP and see Marks response from RamCareWe should tell Rod Romain. He thinks the TTPMS was available on the late model 2019's (which it wasn't because I waited until August to get my truck).

When I order my Tu=ruck on April 3rd, there was an option. The dealer input this into the ordering system. When the truck arrived in June it seemed complete by the pricing, the options did not show up but the cost for the Limited option and the Towing technology option ( for the TTPMS and and Camera) were equal to the new cost for the limited option. IAS I followed the build your Ram on the website the Limited option includes the TTPMS and the trailer camera became a separate option for an additional $395. So FCA keeps moving the TTPMS around and hiding it as they take in our money but do not deliver.I too am trying to find out more so i sent an Email to Rod Romain.
