Camping Pics

Yeah, almost right after I posted that pic, other campers started running around saying a tornado watch and camp staff says to head to the big bathhouses. Had to drive to the one of them, dropped the misses off at a bathhouse and was going to make a run to Kearney with the dogs. Dogs do not do so well around lots of strangers. People were leaving, gathering at the bathhouses, it was chaotic. Got maybe a mile and the sirens went off. Turned around and headed back and stopped at another bathhouse with lots of others. Rain started hard with some hail then. Dogs and I stayed in the truck, as did others, and waited and watched. Bathhouse looked packed. More sirens. Texted better half and she was fine at her bathhouse, but spooked as heck. Ended around midnight and I picked her up and we went back to the trailer. Dogs calmed down after that and we passed out. Never thought I would be glad to say I had NOT received my new Ram. I did see some Ford Super boys who trying to hide under trees with their trucks. Aluminum and hail really did not mix.

As Taggert famously said "What in the wide, wide world of sports is a-goin on here!?" Yep, you can laugh, but I am going to guess/ask that what you do out there is ride many types of motorized madness and bake quite a bit. I bet that is loads of fun. How close is the nearest water when the RV goes dry? Same planet I would hope, lol.

I'm way past desert toys, so I just got to relax, sit by a campfire and watch the others play. I don't "bake" because I only go there during the moderate times when you can be cool in the shade or hot in the sun. My RV doesn't go dry because I carry 149 gallons. The nearest large town is 25 minutes. Fuel and groceries are 15 minutes. When RV tanks get low we call in a service truck that can fill water tanks and empty holding tanks. And there are other vendor wagons that make rounds selling ice cream, ice, and supplies.

I have been desert camping 66 years, enjoying all its beauty. I've also love camping the forested mountains and other states' parks and mountains

Sounds awesome. Good that you have service and supply trucks. Almost mad maxing it.

I never think to take pics of the camp or rig, here's a couple randoms from Jackson Lake, CO.

The wind was wicked 2 evenings, had to pull down the flagpole. That new 22' Flagopole Buddy pole held up well flying two 3x5 flags but glad I didn't have the heavier sewn flag up.

Wow, that is bend but don't break right there

Boon-docking in Rockies, Alberta. Not a person in sight.
I never understood folks that live in a huge house in a city, who then take their other house on wheels and go sit around among other people with their houses on wheels.
For me camping always was a place in a wild near a lake or a river, a campfire and just a family and maybe a few friends. Hiking, fishing, exploring... No rules no nothing.
My TT wasn't big to begin with but sold it and in search of a truck camper which will allow me to get into tight and remote places I wouldn't dare pulling a TT into.
I had a really hard time turning my TT around near this lake, the rear end was hanging over the water. The alternative was to back it out all the way (about a 1/4 mile) up the main road and there were a few really sharp turns, steep grade and gravel/dirt all the way.
