Big Horn cloth interior vs Laramie leather

I stayed away from the cloth in my Ram due to how thin/cheap it looked and felt compared to my second gen Tundra. Those seats have VERY durable cloth that held up great over 10 years. Looked almost new the day I traded it in. The Ram cloth did not inspire much faith, so I went with leather. Hope I don't regret it, but so far I have no complaints.

Thanks for your feedback. I’m going with premium cloth so hopefully a step up from your experience. I’m still debating it ...

I went through this very same debate and ended up ordering the Laramie. I am definitely a cloth guy, just felt the Laramie leather looked a touch more high end and I like the factory flares. I also trade every few years and most used car managers will throw more money at a Laramie vs a loaded up big horn just on the leather alone. They’re both great options in all reality!

I had a string of King Ranches before buying an optioned up 2019 Bighorn. I thought the quality was head and shoulders above the cloth you got 10 or 20 years ago and has narrowed the gap with leather. When I bought my HD I intended to get another Bighorn but nobody had one with the upgraded EVIC. I like my Laramie seats but I don't view them as a big deal upgrade. More of just a choice that costs.

So as the thread title suggests I’m looking for input on the Big Horn cloth interior (black) as I am actually leaning toward this over the Laramie which has leather. I’m thinking with my dogs claws and in general wear over a 5 year period say for example the cloth may look better. I’ve reviewed the 2021 Big Horn options and I can basically load it up to a point where they are equal other than the cloth vs leather. Comfort wise I’ll assume they are as good if not better , stay cooler in the hot weather, and a simple shampoo to clean when necessary. Thanks in advance for your replies. I am a few days away from placing my order so I can get the 2021 HO with the CP3 instead of say taking a deal on a 2020 Laramie HO . ( well that’s my current plan so far ) .
I absolutely go with leather on every truck for one main reason. I visit the lake a lot and having leather allows me to jump in with wet trunks on and not have to worry about the interior smelling like mold the next day. Not to mention simply wiping it off from any spills, etc. This new truck arriving soon also has leather but I'm not a fan of the suede inserts for the reasons I just mentioned. I just couldn't swing for the limited.

LOL I make everyone bring a change of clothes unless they drove separately. Summer time lake water can get smelly and it's not mold, it's decaying plant matter and algae in the water. I don't want that accumulating in my truck.

right, the mold comment was my best analogy regarding smell. I live 50 yards from the boat ramp and just not going to do the clothes change, towels, etc. I'm usually the only one getting in the truck as everyone else just stays in the boat and I drag them home. Sure is easy though not dealing with wet/moist driver seat.

Good to hear. I didn't want leather in my "truck" and needed to seat 6. Premium black cloth it is and I look forward to it.

I was able to order a bench seat with leather.

Also, as a general response to the thread after my son threw up in my current truck twice the leather for this new Ram was a must have. Much easier the clean vomit off a leather seat when you’re out in the woods.

I did that many trucks ago and by the time it died at 250k miles I could not get the smell of dead fish, sweat, and farts out no matter how many car trees I opened. Never again. We keep our rec boat in a slip and there is a shower house next to the parking lot so it couldn't be easier. As an added bonus you can go out to dinner without worrying if you stink.

This is my first non leather in 12 years. I have no complaints about my cloth seats. They are comfy. Holding up well.

The leather seats in my 2019 1500 Laramie started peeling in a few different spots after about 23k miles. For that reason I opted to go cloth on my 2020 2500.

To add to the lake water and sweating issues (both for me because I do a lot of ranch work in addition to fishing and family fun), I've found that the ventilated leather seats absorb moisture and odor, too. The surface does dry quicker with leather, though. I prefer cloth for comfort in my truck and use a towel and/or a nylon slip cover when things are really wet or sweaty. We have leather in our 3 other vehicles. When this truck I ordered comes in it will be my fifth Big Horn/Lone Star with premium cloth seats (first one, heated).

Had leather in my last truck and fully intended on doing after market for my tradesman. Have to admit the cloth seats are pretty damn good and durable, definitely comfortable. Still may do it, but I have no complaints about the Ram cloth seats.

Agree on all fronts. Ive always had, and generally prefer, cloth. I would have ordered cloth. Problem is you cannot get the remote tailgate release with a bighorn. I really wanted that option (we pull a 5th wheel) vs getting out of the truck to release the tailgate (1st world probs, i know) so all that said.. Laramie it was.

Cant wait to get mine.

I have the remote tailgate release in my tradesman. So you could have gotten it for a bighorn.

Well dang! what package? Also what year is your truck? I did not believe this was possible on the 21's.
