Backup lights to AUX switch

I purchased backup lights that you can mount in your bumper. I would like to connect those to one of my AUX switches inside the truck. Do I have to run wiring all the way from engine compartment to the back. Or is there some kind of plug in the rear I can use?

You don’t need to run wiring up front. There are two blunt cut wires back there specifically for what you want to do. Use this document to configure the aux connectors accordingly for which switch you want those wires to use- https://www.ramtrucks.com/BodyBuilder/service/Image?imageId=MtQrP/FqLY5r/est8MtGjGgHzAHGUTU0WB3rWuqSY7YmQ2vEhuBWBAGmP39EZ2yd

Ok, the first pic is the connector that would plug into the trailer tire pressure monitor module. Second pic is the connector that plugs into the antenna for passive entry on the tailgate. The third pic is what you’re looking for- the blunt cut wires. There should be three, I believe, and the third one is for a topper brake light.
You’ll use page 8/18 of that linked document, where “F” is two of those blunt cut wires.

Those are the blunt cut wires.

They run up to D2621A under the dash. I've posted details on plugging the upfitter jumper into that connector and using the wiring to bring AUX to the wiring or use them with the IGN+ or BAT+ as built in the Dash camera sticky thread..

I'm dumb at this kind of electronics. So If I have two lights with red and black wires what should I wire where? It's a brand new truck i don't want to screw this up. I'm about to cut out holes for the light fixtures

FWIW, I plan to do something similar but will be trying to wire it into a setup where I can use the backup lights with the reverse, disable them, or run them separately.

I'm picking up reverse power from the trailer 7-pin using a Curt Y cable and just need to figure out the relay circuits. I've already tapped into the blunt cut wiring to use inside the cab for my dashcam and the pass through circuit for my AUX6 2-Lo selector, so I'll just run the reverse AUX control wire from the engine to the rear. Even if I have to use 2 AUX switches, one to disable and one for manual, I have plenty to spare.

I will be honest I don't understand that wiring diagram. Call me what you want but it's like I'm looking at a book about "how to understand woman"

If you could explain on how to wire this i would really appreciate it. I would like to use them on when ignition is on

Ok so I'm trying to understand this. I know where the two blunt cut wires are in the rear. I know where the gray connector is by the steering column. I know where the gray connector are under the hood. Is there instructions or something explaining on how this all works?

Look at this post and diagram.

Which blunt cut wire do you want to use for the AUX lights?

IGN+ or BAT+ ?

One of them will need to be de-pinned and moved to Pin 5 on the upfitter jumper shown.

You will then make a jumper wire (PURPLE) to go from Whichever AUX circuit you want to use to the Pass through G245. My example shows AUX6* jumper to G245 (Purple crayon).

Connect the LED RED wires to whichever blunt cut wire you used. Connect the BLACK wires to a chassis ground.

** NOTE ** Image below from RAM docs has AUX6 circuit mislabeled. It should show F607.

* Disregard the PTO jumper there if you have a 2020, I think I gabbed the 2019 or CC diagram.

i didn't know this existed but it seems based on Brutals post, taht the blunt wires behind the rear bumper run up to the AUX connection at the firewall and also remain there as blunt ends. if thats the case, you can simply connect them to the up fitter module (light gray connector) to feed your lights on your bumper. Connect them to whichever AUX switch you want to control the back up lights. Look at the schemtic for the upfitter switches to know which port on the upfitter module to connect to. one of those wires should be enough to power both lights.

Very cool though, i had no idea ram has provisions for rear of the truck as well.

The blunt cut wires are already wired to the PDC, they are not blunt cut at the firewall. They pass through the cab at D2621A. They will not have power until the grey jumper is "installed by customer."

You can move the pins around on that grey jumper and/or tap power there for inside your cab. There's also the pass through circuit that I've posted details about more times than I can remember.

I can explain it to someone, I can't make them understand it. ;)

I walked him through via PM, but this is exactly what I had him do. One thing to note- when you move one of those jumper wires to pin 5, it no longer matters which wire is batt+ and ign, because the switch output will now be handling that circuit, whereas before they were run directly to either batt+ or the run relay control.

Thanks to Jimmy now I understand how this works. Before I didn't know what all the connectors are on the wiring diagram are. Also thanks to Brutal for his responses.
