Automatic Regen too often

Well my truck went in again for frequent Regens. The dealership had to change the oild under warranty last go around thanks to injectors leaking diesel into the oil. That said, I am now being asked about my fuel filter replacement, as though I don't keep logs or it is somehow my fault.

I am incredibly frustrated as to how the conversation always comes back to me, and how they can't disprove my maintenance is the problem. I only use mopar filters and never get anywhere near the mileage listed in the manual.

Side note....I didn't want to touch the oil that they put in, but per the dipstick, the truck is likely still making oil.

I in good conscience cannot sell this truck or trade it in for them to sell, so I don't know what to do. This may be the perfect candidate for the Alaskan 4th of July car cliff launch.
If you’re headed to Alaska…you could probably just travel a littler further north and get it fixed permanently.

Sadly, with the dilution I experienced, I wouldn't be surprised if the motor itself is now fried. "Fixing it" would probably just buy me time until it implodes

Do you have a ramcares rep? Your truck at 5 years old may not qualify but you could also call this number my dad gave me (844-521-8188). He was in the car business about 2 decades, but left about 10 years ago. He gave me that number which prompted ramcares to initiate a buyback conversation. It's the FCA customer care number, amd may be a good option if you've run out of other options.

Side note - my dad is probably more ticked off at all this then anyone I know. He recently completed a buyback thru Nissan after his truck (gas tho, not diesel) was in the shop constantly over a 2 year period. He then went and bought a new GMC. Time will tell.if it's any better, but the more I go through this process the more I learn just about all the manufacturers produce crap nowadays.

2nd side note - I know 2 guys that are good friends. One worked at a GMC dealer, and another at Ford. Both left their respective jobs due to the number of vehicles coming back with issues. Ford guy left the car business altogether, and the GMC guy went to Ram but then left for the same reason.

This is what I have heard about all newer HD trucks.... just want what I bought to work, don't really want a hd gasser.

Based on age, mileage and depreciation from purchase price....I don't really know if it's worth it. Plus, I don't really want them buying it back and just selling it off to an unsuspecting person.

Well, I've just about lost all hope in corporate America. Fleetguard has misplaced the oil sample I sent in on July 1st. USPS tracking number says they got it Friday the 5th. Delivered to the front desk/receiving area. Starting to think it all just needs burnt to the ground. There's no longer any accountability, it seems anywhere

Swapped back my afe intake with the 2021 known good maf sensor. 50 miles today with stop and go traffic and 15miles on the highway. Dpf did not move from just under 25% full. 4Grams of soot in the dpf according to alfaobd.

As you can see both maf sensors are Germany made. Truck goes to the dealer Wednesday this coming week since it's under warranty. Maf sensor is $360.

Did you sent it to Houston TX lab? All of mine go to Salt Lake UT, they have never lost one.

Yep. I'm in Oklahoma just 8 hours from Houston so that's where I was directed to send it. They asked for 2 business days to try and locate the sample but I'm not sure what good that'll do. I had to go black ops just to pull the sample as the dealer was saying it was against their policy to allow me to take a sample. Ram and their dealer network are all worthless as I'm sure they can't legally stop me from doing anything with a truck I own free and clear.

I also have the German MAF in my 2022 HO (built 10/9/21)

Did you notice that the 2 sensors are reversed in the 2 different intakes ? I noticed that they are reversed on the S&B CAI also. Don’t know that it matters but I would be looking for what differences there are. I also have the German built MAF in my 22’ with a Czech built MAP.

Being they just had a major storm go through Houston I'm not at all surprised a few things have been either lost do to flooding or misplaced

I did notice that. If you take a look at a few posts up I posted the MAF sensor data between the 2 intakes at idle. There is definitely different numbers based on the flows

Unfortunately for my situation, it could be brutally painful if they lost it. My understanding from their customer service rep is they experienced no flooding, and were only closed Monday. So it is unlikely that either of those scenarios (power loss or flooding) would've affected my sample. This may be simple, albeit painful, human error.

Well there must be something in Archoil, I did the first stage, the AR6400-D and drive a couple hundred km towing the RV this weekend. First regen must have waiting as it popped off pretty quick and was done in minutes???? Crazy. Once it was done it stayed well below 50% the reset of the trip (on CTS3).

In the morning was something odd, normally after a regen I would start and the intial reading on the CTS3 for % soot would be around 30 or 40 or something. This time it was 18! ??? Never seen it that low as a starting value but could have just been a fluke. Will monitor.

The entire time towing back the % stayed almost always at 40.00% and never moved at all, weird how it would not go even a decimal point below 40 but I've only just turned on the two decimal points thanks to AH64ID's tip. EGT temps towing were also nice and high, just below 500 deg C which should have been giving a passive regen nicely.

On a side note, my buddy with an L5P GMC had to replace his "ninth" (position 9 he meant) fuel injector, which is the injector that injects into the DPF when active regen'ing. It had finally rusted up (2018 truck). It was nice to see on the GMC they use a separate injector and don't toss more fuel into the cylinders, which we had that feature, should eliminate the "Making my own oil" issue.

Is this excessive regen issue effecting the 2024's as well?

I'd like to know too. If they can't straighten out my truck I may order a new one.

It seems Ford's quality has dropped off a cliff starting in '22 pretty much ruling them out. I don't know anything about the GM HD trucks. Are they also troublesome?
