Auto slide or sidewinder

Just reading a note on etrailer the regular sidewinder says not to use with Curt Q or A but the airborne sidewinder says only not to use with Curt Q
I think that may be a typo on their site.

I used the Reese 5th Airborne Sidewinder for a while.
Mine may have been an isolated case but it is not a good design IMO.
I discovered two significant cracks on that pin box while inspecting it... trying to find the cause of creaking noises it started making on the way home from a trip.

Sent photos of the cracks to Reese and replaced it under warranty.
The new one they sent me was warped, so I sent it back and asked for a Goosebox in place of the 5th Airborn Sidewinder (my new 3500 is a long bed).
what garbage welds. No wonder it cracked…

Thank you all for the responses. My camper gets delivered to me mid October. Who the hell knows when I would get my truck. So I have time to research. If I went with the sidewinder I may even ask the dealer to install if the price is right.

@ Amauri where did you purchase sidewinder? I can only find limited options to purchase. Thanks

I got it from my local Camping World a few years ago, they had a good price on it.
What part of the country are you at?

Im on Long Island NY. Got nothing local here. Some local places like truck parts and all but the mark up would be insane. I would have to order online somewhere.

I currently have a Sidewinder on my trailer, using a Reese M5 20K hitch, although next time, I probably would get the Companion hitch as they are better quality. It works great, don't have to worry when backing into my driveway, which is a sharp turn and uphill.

I have the RAM puck setup on the Reese hitch. You can not use a gooseneck setup with the Sidewinder due to twisting forces. One thing you can do with the Sidewinder, is using two bolts (that come with it), you can lock the Sidewinder from moving, and use it as a normal pinbox.

Hookup isn't that bad. How many times are you unhooking without being straight or close to it.

Pulled the trigger last night on the Demco Autoslide for the Ram puck prep. $1621 on etrailer plus my Capital One card did some funky stuff on my browser going through codes and saved me another $82 dollars. Was gonna call to see if they give veterans discount but happy with the extra $82.

Since I don’t already have a hitch it would have cost me double that If I bought a sidewinder and a hitch.
