Antenna Location

Not sure about the lack of grounding. But when I did my fender mount I ran a ground strap from the mount to one of the body mounts behind the battery. Radio seems to work fine

Thinking about doing the same, though im leaning more to the 3rd brake light mount. Curious to what others have done as well.

Well I got a text from my buddy the other day. Seems that his 3d printer is a little small and he can't print out the mount.

So I went ahead and bit the bullet and ordered the BPD mount from SDHQ. It should be here Friday. I'll report back on what I think of it. Definatly not a cheap option. But at least I don't have to drill any holes.

Looking forward to seeing the install! Im still debating on the radio, leaning toward GMRS since it seems like its the most common these days, and a easier learning curve vs Ham. Once I get that sorted out, ill prob go the same direction as you with the mount, depending on your review.

Awesome. Post some pics of it when its done!

On my last truck, I went from window edge mount, to magnetic mount, to finally drilling the hole in the roof. I should have started with the roof mount. Besides being easy to do, the other mounts were pretty noisy on transmit (for others) with the 105W radio I was running. That was for a VHF race radio though so quite a bit different.

Like Brewbud, I went from a side mount off the bed for my 50 watt VHF race radio on my K5 Blazer that was a full convertible, so no other choice, to drilling a hole in the roof of my F250 crew cab for a 110W VHF race radio.

But now that I have a brand spanking new truck, I don't want to drill a hole for my 110W VHF radio antenna. hence why I'm dropping $400 for the BPD Antenna mount and weather cap for when I don't need the antenna on.

Yea, its a tough pill to swallow, but I'll sleep better at night knowing I can easily remove everything and return it to stock.
When I sold my F250, I left the wire and NMO mount on the cab with the weather cap on it.

So is the bed camera in the light lens? Or separate?
If in the lenses, I think it should fit, but moves the camera/lens 3/4" out and may mess up the view of the front of the bed.

Ok, shes mounted. Full install details with pictures in my build thread.
Easy mount. Hardest part was getting the C pillar covers back on
The are 2 piece that also snap into each other and the extra cable I hid back there kept getting in the way. My radio is mounted under the passenger back seat, behind the sub.
Light only sticks out 3/4". I'm going to replace the factory lens with a black one.20211029_130017.jpg20211029_130019.jpg20211029_130059.jpg20211029_130109.jpg20211029_130717.jpg
