AlfaOBD

This bypass cable? "Autel Chrysler 12+8 adapter"

No, this one

Ok. Of the Bypass Options, I assume I should order this one “2019 - Current HD (2500/3500/4500/5500”.

Looking to purchase AlphaOBD along with the bypass and a bluetooth dongle. I am unsure from what I have read if I can use iOS or if I should use a Windows laptop. Appreciate any input.

Make sure you get a good OBD reader that works with iOS. We generally recommend vGate vLinker MC+

Hello Jimmy,
I'm hoping you can assist on this. I am trying to get my front camera to activate when the front sensors are activated. I have 2022 Power Wagon with the Level 3 package group. I found it in the manual as an option but is not listed in my truck. Is there something I can turn on in alfaobd that will give me this option? I have attached my version of the system. Thanks

No. That’s only 2023+

Ok. I purchased the bypass from KaodTech. The vGate vLinker MC+ Bluetooth is in my basket at Amazon. I have an iPhone 14, Samsung S21 (spare, not activated for cell), and a Windows laptop. Based on the vGate dongle, what software should I purchase? AlphaOBD or Jscan? If AlphaOBD, Android or Windows? Sorry for all the questions but this is new territory for me. I am nervous entering into the truck computer!! Thank you.

Totally agree with @Jimmy07. Jscan. I am using it with my iPhone 14, KaodTech cable and vLinker MC+ and the combination works great.

I looked at the Jscan web site and its doesn't list my truck. The only closest truck is 2013 - 2022 Ram 3500. I have a 2024. Will it work? Looking to change the fuel volume with a Titan tank upgrade.

Yes.

Current thing with JScan is it can do FOB programming which, AFAIK, AlfaOBD still cannot do. It's also much easier to use for the neophyte user (no offense to all the neophytes and luddites here.) :)

It will work on either your iPhone or Android devices as it's licensed per VIN.

Based on the last several posts it sounds like Jscan has come a long way (for RAMs). While searching I’ve found a bunch of posts saying that Jscan was a bit limited. Of course these posts were a bit older.
So before I go buy a used droid device I have to ask, currently is Jscan limited in any way vs AlphaOBD. Can it program every available factory option, assuming proper hardware has been installed?

I use Jscan and so far i haven’t found or heard of anything it can’t do. The only downside i have noticed is when making changes like when i swapped out my headlights for oem leds the instructions on how to make changes found in this forum don’t translate 100 percent because they are written for alfa. The settings are the same you just have to search to find it or ask on here and someone will answer.

@Jimmy07 can add, but I think there's some radio stuff or possibly other modules JScan can't do that AlfaOBD can do, but for anything you're going to need to change in the BCM, JScan can do it.

JScan can also program FOB on 19-24 that AlfaOBD (AFAIK) still cannot. Don't know what the 25 stuff is going to look like, I think they're all still working on cracking the new bus (for users).

JScan is price per VIN runs on Apple or Android.
AlfaOBD is Android or Windows only, priced per google play account (or windows license) and can be used on any supported vehicle.

The app itself shows 2013 - 2024 for Ram D2 and DD models so your truck is covered. Download the app and play with it in DEMO mode. The app is free and you only pay per VIN.Screenshot 2025-04-06 at 10.45.50.jpeg

What is the difference between D2 vs DD? And I will download and DEMO it. Tank is on order along with the OBD dongle and bypass cables. I still need to check out a video on installing the bypass cables.

The directions for the KAODTECH cable state it must be removed before taking the truck to a dealership for service. I let the dealer do oil changes and rotates because at this point in my life it works out better. No I don’t care for the fact that the lowest paid guy is wrenching on my truck but they’ve treated me well thus far. Do I have to remove this cable for that? I really only bought it to lower TPMS thresholds. I suppose I could make my changes and put things back to “stock”.

What are others doing? Thanks
