Alfaobd?

Yes, for 2019/2020 use the Kaodtech cable. I just did and it works perfectly.

FYI, if you just grab the bezel around the headlight switch and give it a tug, it will pop right out and give you easy access to those CAN blocks. They are right behind the switch. If you're just doing a temp install and are not plugging the Kaodtech OBD header into your knee bolster, you don't even need to remove it. Can't believe how easy that made it.

P.S. When you get the new cable, it does not matter which port in the connector block you plug into, they're all electrically the same - but it does matter which bus (black or white base) you plug into. Use the one that's easiest for you.

My Kaodtech cable showed up today. It was really easy to install thanks to the instructions @brutal provided. Removing the headlight switch was super easy. I also installed a Banks iDash 1.8 DataMonster, so I removed the side panel to route the cable up the a-pillar.

I have reached out to Thoroughbred Diesel and GDP to determine if this bypass cable enables AlfaOBD. It is possible this cable only enables EFI Live updates, not AlfaOBD. Thanks!

Like others have stated, I confirmed the AlfaOBD does work with the OBDLink MX+ and the Kaodtech cable, so this confirms AlfaOBD does not work with the GDP unlock cable.

Also, I confirmed that the UniCarScan UCSi-2000 Bluetooth OBD reader does not work with AlfaOBD and the Kaodtech cable, so don't try that combination either.

Has anyone been able to defeat the speed limiter on a 2020 CTD truck?

I've tried setting the BCM option to 200 KPH, 255 KPH, etc. and it falls on its face and limits at 101-ish no matter what. I recall 255 KPH set a CEL. I just saw a post on another board showing @248KPH but I haven't tried that.

I haven't been able to do anything with the ECU settings as AlphOBD complains it doesn't have my ISO, and then setting changes don't work.

I have the same problem with my 2019. I submitted my ISO to AlfaOBD in December of 2019, and they responded

I'll add the data in the next release. ISO code is not relevant for RAM, it's OK that it's empty.

Best regards,

I see a note on this cable site that says it accesses everything but the radio, is that an issue?
Thanks!

I couldn't get the GDP unlock cable to connect to the body control module. I contacted their support. They replied, "The cable is just meant for the tuning."

I meant with the Kaodtech cable that you mentioned in your post.

You can't change radio settings from the OBD-II port because a security gateway module is between the CAN bus and the radio. The security gateway prevents a hacker from using the radio to take control of the engine, steering, brakes, etc.

I wish it was possible to use AlfaOBD to change radio settings (like the camera timeout), but I understand why it isn't possible.

I use AldaOBD to change Body Control Module settings like the fog lights and the trailer tire pressure monitoring system (TTPMS).

If you were to use something like the Taser bypass module (that appears to replace the security module?) instead of the Kaod bypass cable would that allow interfacing with the infotainment?

I took a quick peek at the Tazer web site. The Tazer bypass for the 2019 2500/2500 does not seem to replace the security module. It looks functionally equivalent to the Kaodech cable which plugs two pigtails into the CAN bus.

If you’re talking the bypass like this-

Then yes, you’ll be able to access the radio. Aside from checking for faults, and forcing test functions like speaker tests, none of the actual changes you can make in the AlfaOBD settings list work.

That's pretty much the same thing the Kaodtech cable is but SUPER inconvenient for HD owners as it plugs into the security module harness buried behind the EVIC.

Unless you pull down the module and harness... Which opens you up to a potential poopstorm from the dealer and warranty.

1500 trucks have the module and harness just behind the knee bolster.

I made the mistake buying one of these before I realized all that.

Yup, it’s a pain using the gateway replacement style, but it does do the job of getting access to the radio, where the Kaodtech style bypass does not. I built my own bypass similar to Kaodtech, but universal to all FCA vehicles, and it has whips coming off of the CAN C and Can IHS lines with the radio connector sockets on them. So, if I need to access a radio, I just de-pin the radio’s four CAN wires, and insert mine. Still a pain, but there’s not much reason to access the radio unless you’re having issues with it and need to diagnose it.

I see. It would be nice to be able to do a few little hacks in that radio. Like disable the dang timeout on the cameras or get rid of the App icon on the bottom row.

That’s the one I’m talking about. I was hoping I’d be able to dig into the system a bit, but it sounds like that’s not an option. I’ve owned a number of VWs and always enjoyed just how much access there was to change things with the proper cable and hardware. I’d hoped it would be the same here.

First thing I did when I got my A6 in 03 was buy a VAG-COM cable and enable the global up/down/sunroof close.

Then I coded the trans to hold 1st gear to redline, even worked after installing a Tip Chip.

Sadly, unless someone custom tunes it our, and no off the shelf tuners would do it, I couldn't get rid of the "dead pedal" as they call it here, but referred to a BTDL (brake-throttle death lag), more prevalent if you two foot the tip trans.

Does anyone have all the info from before they made any changes. 2019 ram 2500 6.4 bighorn. I tried adding switchback leds to my turn signals But then went back to incandescent but only one of the 2 bulbs will signal. Parking light works but I can’t get both to signal

Interesting, if you don't have a PTO I guess you can just turn PTO on and have it work just like aux 1-5 as well I'm guessing like in this switch panel.

Well shoot, now I have to get Alfaobd software now.
Has anyone been able to buy the switch panel yet?

Anyone connect to a 2021 with an android yet? I am having issues.
