A/C Issues? Anyone else

I created a thread on Cummins forum with pictures/videos. Lots of great insight over there from people chiming in.

Great link !

Hi all, we wanted to touch base to provide an update on this matter. We have been advised that a campaign will be launched in relation to this concern during Q4 of 2020. Thank you ram care , keeping us in the know is great communication and gives thoughs with this issue a glimmer of hope

I'm looking forward to this fix. It will address my #1 complaint with this truck in 80*+ weather.

Mine in the Arizona heat of 114 degree works awesome. What is the fix ? thought they all had the same design. If some if not most works good what or why would there be a fix ? Just curios.

For me the jury is still out. If the fix requires removing the dash, which some have said, I'm declining. I have the ball valve in my heater hose and it works fine when needed. My A/C works great with the ball valve closed, up through 95 degree temps. Over 95 degrees the fan is always on high until I close the ball valve, then it's a lower fan and 42-45 degrees cold air.

I saw a dude applying synthetic freon on his auto maybe this is the solution for people wanting their ac to be super super cold.

I really wonder what would be the remedy for this AC issue from RAM. Could it be something simple like a software update? Or replacing AC blend door?

It's all conjecture at this point, but hopefully just software so they don't have to pull our dash. As @John Jensen mentioned, that opens up a whole can of squeak.

You might be right, but you would think Ram could have fixed a software problem much earlier. The issues go back nearly 2 years now. Makes me believe that a software "fix" is really not a fix but an attempt to over-adjust for a bad hardware design.

Curious as to what people are experiencing with the performance of their A/Cs. It's hot here and mine doesn't seem to blow very cold.

Here's a video of comparing my 2019 Ram 3500 to a 2019 GMC sierra 1500. The GMC blows cold...

Hello,
I bought a 2020 1500 Laramie in December and have been dealing with HVAC issues since February when it started warming up in San Diego and I realized that my vent only blows hot air unless I put it on A/C. So if it's 50 degrees outside and I put on the vent set to "low" the air coming out of my vents is about 75+ degrees. And in the summer when it's hot and I run the A/C it doesn't thoroughly cool the air. Clearly it's pulling air from the heater or engine. I went back and forth for weeks with the local dealership, which was actually dumb enough to lie/contradict themselves on multiple occasions in writing. After they acknowled the problem they ended up telling me that it's just the way the truck is and can't be fixed. It's now being handled by a Lemon Law attorney. Under Lemon Law rules, the attorney bares all the financial costs so they only take a case if it's a slam-dunk. My attorney told me that he's seen this on multiple occasions with Ram and that it's a design flaw. I can't wait to have the truck refunded and removed - it's been nothing but a problem from day 1. the Uconnect system has been buggy and even the air conditioned seats stopped working after 6 months with only 5K miles on the vehicle.

If you're having the same issue let me know - It will help us both and I will keep you updated on the resolution.

How can it be a design flaw if the majority of them work fine ? I live with the Arizona heat and my air works great even on 114 degree weather.

There’s a flaw in the design that causes a percentage to not work correctly??? I have never seen temperatures under 52 out of my vent. That said, I really haven’t looked lately since the temperatures have been in the 60s and 70s here. I don’t drive my truck much lately either, the Cab rattle drives me nuts and makes driving it unpleasant. Still anxiously awaiting an update on these matters.
