50 Gallon Fuel Tank

Ooooh! this sounds fun!

I have had both the 5.7 Hemi in my 2020 ram 1500, and now the 2019 3500 DRW Cummins HO.
Spec for spec, both trucks were the "MAX TOW" package.
Hemi I was getting ~16.8MPG commuting, 11MPG towing my travel trailer.
Cummins I am getting ~16.2MPG commuting, ~14MPG towing same trailer... hmmm does a diesel tow better????
Co-Worker has the 2500 6.4 hemi, he gets 12 towing my trailer, and ~15 around town (his is not max tow).

BTW I paid the same for both trucks, 1500 was a bighorn, 3500 is a tradesman with everything of the bighorn except the 8.4" screen, both bought "used"

Back to the tanks...
I cannot find the titan model for the CC Long bed? only the CC short bed or megacab short bed. The larger 64G tank looks the best for me, and adding a 97 gal aux tank... Id love the factory 50gal tank but not sure if they changed frame items for the 19 vs 20?

Ok, the last word on the fuel gauge problem. I contacted Alexey at AlfaOBD and explained the symptoms I was having with the fuel gauge. He got back to me and had me set the value of "VehConfig3 - Fuel Capacity" to 194.000 liters. That did the trick for the analog gauge reading empty. I then asked if there was a max value for that setting. He got back to me that there is a maximum. 255-36=219 liters. He didn't indicate what the 36 is for, but that accounts for about 9 gallons. 219 is 57.85 gallons, so close enough to the real tank capacity of almost 62 gallons. When I tried the max value, the analog gauge went to zero again. After trying multiple numbers, the largest one is the one Alexey suggested, 194.000.

So I guess that's it. That accounts for 51.25 gallons. I ways short of 62, but I will live with that. What other choice do I have?

I just installed the titan 52gal tank in my 2014 2500. I tried changing the fuel capacity to 194. The truck sat over night and the next morning it read half full. The tank was as full as I can get it. I went back to the OEM capacity for the BCM. My fuel gauge stays on full for about 240 miles before it starts to move.

When building the ram with the bigger factory fuel tank do they subtract the weight of a full tank from your payload door sticker?

From my experience the payload is calculated with full fluids no driver
Correct. The definition of payload is the GVWR minus curb weight. Curb weight is the vehicle with all fuel, lubricants and coolants filled. No passengers, baggage or cargo. So yes, the payload is calcuated with a full fuel tank. In other words, what is on the door sticker assumes you have a full tank.

So after reading through a bunch of these ... Is the upgraded fuel tank only for the Diesels? Or can we do the mod for a gasser also? I have a 19 Big Horn Gasser and would love to do a crazy huge fuel tank (I drive up northern Canada alot and would love the added range)

There are no aftermarket replacement fuel tanks for the gasser.... as of now, there is only in-bed tank options.

Feel free to go here: Transferflow Suggest a Product and recommend they make a replacement fuel tank...

Build and price let's you add a 50 gal tank to the hemi trucks without forcing the diesel option. Reminder it's only available for CCLB.

If we’re talking about an auxiliary gas tank in the bed of the truck why couldn’t you tee it into the fill line and have a quarter turn shut off valve in the line from the tank in the bed to the onboard tank. When you want to add gas take the cap off open the quarter turn valve let a certain amount in shut it off put the gas cap back on and then go. That way there’s no need for a pump.

Gas is illegal to be gravity fed like that, i have my cummins setup like that for my 100gal aux tank but it also has a float valve to stop filling on its own
