50 Gallon Fuel Tank

Correct. The definition of payload is the GVWR minus curb weight. Curb weight is the vehicle with all fuel, lubricants and coolants filled. No passengers, baggage or cargo. So yes, the payload is calcuated with a full fuel tank. In other words, what is on the door sticker assumes you have a full tank.
Yep. An additional 350#

Build and price let's you add a 50 gal tank to the hemi trucks without forcing the diesel option. Reminder it's only available for CCLB.
Why only on the long box ?
I’ve got the crew cab 6’ box 6.4 … is this something I can mod / swap ? I mean I can’t see it being as technical as doing the oem aux switches a while back (thank you HD rams forum and members who answered questions ! )

I can't say why. That's what RAM offers stock.

Unless someone has proven otherwise, if you want a larger tank on anything except a CCLB, you'll have to go aftermarket.

Couldn't find a 50 gal tank to look at so I went with the titan tank.

Updated with Alfa to 196 liters. Not sure it's reading right. Took forever to come off full. I did get about 540 miles to half a tank. Pleased so far.

On my CCLB with the small tank there is about 1.5' of space between the fuel tank and the def tank that I assume would be taken up by the bigger tank. With the shorter bed you don't have that extra space.

Remove the DEF tank then you would have the room lol

I guess when you option the 50 gallon tank Ram doesn't increase the size of the DEF tank as well?

Anyone got a discount code for Titan?
While I don't have a code for them, when I ordered mine from 4wheelparts, I looked for when they had a sale and saved 10% off the cost. Might be something worth looking into if you have one in your area. They do ship to home as well. But it's big and heavy.

So I read through all these, and I read a little about a 50 gal tank for the hemi. I don't have a diesel anymore, and I really only needed a half ton, but bought a 2500 for the solid front axle. I put a lot of miles on my truck (35K+ a year) and I would love to get more than 420mi per tank. I run 35" mud tires (not optional, need them for getting to and from jobsites). But unfortunately, I have a CCSB. Is there a way to retrofit an OEM tank or aftermarket 50gal tank into my SB??? In bed tanks aren't an option because of all the tools I carry around regularly.

Maybe I’m not understanding the question. The titan tank I have at least fits in my crew cab short be in my 14 2500. There’s a company in San Bernardino California that makes auxiliary tanks that fit where the spare goes. Not cheep but it’s an option.

I know there's an OEM 50 gal option for CCLB trucks both gas and diesel, and Titan makes some 50ish gal tanks for CCSB but diesel only.

I was asking if one of those could be fit into a CCSB gasser.

Got it. Sorry I misunderstood. Here is the company i was referring to. Don’t know if they do gas but worth looking into.

A couple of my buddies had added their auxiliary tanks and ditched the spare. I heard their customer service is great. Worth a call at least.

As far as I know, no one has tried to purchase the OEM 50 gallon tank to see if it will fit (it likely won't).
No one makes an aftermarket replacement tank for the gasser...

You can try contacting the company @Gus mentioned... however, as a custom (one off) job, the price will reflect that.
The other option is to try the Transferflow Suggest A Product page...

Does anyone know where I can find the dimensions of these tanks? Both the OEM 32 gal for the CCSB and the 50 (or 48 lol)..
I am asking because it looks like there is only about 12" of space in front of the short bed 32 gal tank, not enough to make up the 18gal difference. If they also add depth, it may work to retrofit a 50 into the 32 gal spot.

Could someone with a 50gal tank (preferably gas) take a measurement of the tank's overall length and the length from the front hold down strap to the front of the tank? I am assuming there's still only 2 hold down straps....

Just a point of interest, I ordered a 3500 Limited which I have not got yet, with 5th wheel hitch and 50 gallon tank and looked up my payload with my vin and its only 3572.69 lbs.

2021 CCLB Hemi, I measured 21 1/2” from the front of the tank to the front of the front strap, overall length is 78”, and yes there is still only 2 straps.

FWIW, Same truck options (sans roofleak, vsim, alarm) factory GN/5th prep but no hitch, CCLB payload is 3707. If you ordered it with a Mopar (Curt) hitch it sounds like they DO NOT count that against the sticker payload.

Well I guess all that lack of payload must be the Limited trim plus the 50 gallon tank

You're awesome.
But I can confirm that it won't fit. The OEM 32 gal tank is 62" long. Add the 12" of space in front of it, and that's only 74". There is a box or module of some sort in the way. No way a 78" tank will fit.

Also, they must have relocated the straps. I have 22" from the front of the tank to the front of the front strap.

But I do thank you for confirming what I hope wasn't true. I was really hoping to make this work.

Because I freaking love going to the gas station so often.....
