24 Cummins weird start on remote start?

Hey guys I have a new 24 Cummins with around 2800 miles on it. The noise is very weird only with remote start. It’s random and not always doing it. You can hear some really weird rattle or some **** right when it starts. Other than remote start I have never heard this noise.


 
I don’t hear anything that sounds abnormal. The noise right at startup sounds like the VGT adjusting.
 
You don’t hear that almost lien metal clanky noise?? It’s right when it starts up. Listen a little closer, you can definitely hear a clanky sound
 
Only thing that comes to mind is maybe the starter gear dragging a bit after starting Not sure why that wouldn’t happen with normal start up though. Maybe it’s there with normal start up but you don’t hear it because you’re inside the truck? Could be perfectly normal for that year, don’t know.
 
I hear it, just a split second after the engine starts theres a funky "clanky" sound. My 24 does not do that, button start or remote. It does that every time but only with remote start? I'd definitely go and see what the dealership service dept has to say about it.
 
I can hear the noise. Have no clue what it is though.
How do you remote start the vehicle? I tried this morning but nada

Nothing I hear fits that description. Could be the speakers I’m using. The sound right after start sounds more the a huffing noise.
 
I started it this morning with the door open and didn’t hear it, AC was off this time so maybe it’s the clutch fan? A few other guys on my Facebook said there’s does it once in awhile too
 
If ac was on the fan clutch does lock and will make a racket.
 
Yeah then I’d imagine that’s what it was. It’s only ever done it twice now. And both was on remote start. Super strange.

The 2 times Iv ever heard this in about 9 months of owning it was on remote start. Both times AC was on. So I’m assuming it’s the fan. Another guy on Facebook said his does the same randomly
 
Different speakers and it sounds about the same. That noise doesn't come thru as metallic and sounds more like the a/c compressor, but all in all sounds normal.

The fan sounds different.

Depending on your settings the HVAC may not follow the last settings at shutdown, so it may be worth checking your settings and reading the owners manual.
 
Hmm okay. Guess I won’t sweat it to much then. I just won’t use remote start for awhile and just see if normal starting ever makes the noise.

The sound I’m talking about is right after it starts up. Can the AC compressor really be that loud and annoying on start up?

Fan clutch thats normal mine does it the odd time when starting if it kicks in right away. No biggy its not hurting a thing HD trucks are noisy don’t read to much into these little noises they happen

You can hear the crackle/ clank or whatever?

Yup, I came back in here to post that same info. Yesterday I started my truck and then hit the AC button and got that exact same "clanky" sound. Thats when it dawned on me.... "Hey, thats the sound dude on the forum was hearing. Its the AC! I wonder if he's remote starting the truck with the AC on?" LOL yup, you were.
