2025 2500 Cummins with drivetrain/vibration issues.

Any update? My truck I picked up last week started with a vibration around 70 miles on the odometer. It's not bad, but noticeable and was definitely not there when I drove it off the lot and for the next couple days.

Even changed my wheels and tires and it didn't affect the vibration, so not tire or wheel related. It's worse when I push on the gas and goes away when I let off and coast.

I'm wondering if the driveshaft threw a weight. Haven't had a chance to look into it yet.

Yeah, your symptoms sound similar. They also checked the wheels and tires for balance and found one wheel that needed 5 oz of weight. that made no difference and they also swapped wheels and tires with another truck and also made no difference. They ordered a new driveshaft that will be here Friday. He doesn't know if that's the problem or not. Service adviser called me last Friday and asked if my neighbor would be willing to call him. He was willing and the service advisor said he was very helpful. I will let you know when they get it in.

Add me to the list of guys that would like to know what the problem is when you nail it down.

Do those torque converters have a weight to balance them? I would think that a machine part like that would not need balancing. A drive shaft needs balancing and thats going to be my guess as to the problem.

I don't know the answer to that but I will post it if I find out. Hopefully find something out Monday.

We had a death in my family recently and I guess I forgot to update the thread. It turned out to be the driveshaft. It is much better now, I no longer hate driving this truck. NW Jeep Ram had it for 2 weeks and I would recommend them if you're in the Portland area. Ask for Karl.

I'm glad you got have NW Jeep Ram check out your problem. they are one of the best around our area, but they are so busy its not easy to get an appointment to get your truck serviced...

Thanks for the reply Charles and thanks again for your help, Lee

2026 3500 mega cab, just bought it, traded out of a 22 HO… on way home and notice a constant droning noise right at 80, if I go to 78 it goes away… have a 4 hour drive ahead of me… hoping it shakes out… interested if anyone else is experiencing this

How was the drive….assuming it’s over by now?

Well, i bought the thing in Virginia, I turned around on my way home after 60 miles and spent the night in Virginia so I can take back to the dealership this morning.

I have put close to 200k miles on these trucks, most of those miles over 75 mph so this will be a massive thorn in my side until it is resolved

To better describe it:

1. Starts at 76, peaks at 80, continues to 86
2. Only happens under load, most noticeable when maintaining speed
3. Stops when off the gas or in neutral (so not tires, bearings, etc.)
4. It goes away if I downshift
5. Cannot recreate at any other gear in the same RPM range

It is a perfect rhythmic hum and slight vibration

There is a part of me that thinks it’s a tuning thing… like the turbo flutters at that speed but it feels more mid-ship so I assume it will be trans or drive line

I’ll keep you all posted.

I’m glad to have checked here on this issue, my 2024 has developed a similar issue in last month or so. 60, then stronger at 72. And today it’s vibrating at about 35-38. I hope this thing isn’t about to blast off a u joint. Also to note I’m at 15k

My vibration I could feel starting at 30 mph and up on the drive home from the dealer which was 90 miles. The first 2 dealers tried to tell me that's just the way those trucks are. Third dealer had it 2 weeks and decided to to put a new driveshaft in it. That was a huge improvement. I was 2 days from filing a Lemon Law claim.
