2023 models with DRVM, can you get the side view to work?

I guess RamCare doesn’t care about my problem
I would send them a direct message and see what they say. I was thinking about your problem and it seems to be an issue of corrupt software or a need to completely reflash the ECM (Assuming thats where the code is that displays the data resides. Worst case is to replace the ECM with a new one. The Head unit may be the system that provides the data, but either way, easiest fix is to replace the unit that houses the firmware.

So my original title for this thread is no longer relevant. It has changed from "Why doesn't my feature work?" to "Hell, I don't even have that feature".

And now begins the journey to try to add that feature. Here is the blank plate where the side view camera should go for the Digital Rearview Mirror. Can anyone tell me:
1. How do I get into the mirror housing to see if the wiring for the camera is already there?
2. Does anyone know the part numbers for the cameras, besides having to buy the entire external mirror assembly?

Since I have the DRVM AND the trailer camera harness already installed from the factory, I am hoping the harness extends to the side mirrors.

And no, the Ram parts guys have no clue about anything related to the 2023 models. This forum contains all the brain cells.

I don’t have any answers but I will be following along.

I want to do the same if you can figure it out.

Good luck!

I know the feeling. I have a Limited and for some unknown reason the option to display the tire pressure on my dash cluster is not there. My dealer cant figure it out. It shows up on my Uconnect app but not on my dash, it just isn't there...

My blind spot camara when blinker on didn't work but doing a factory reset on the uconnect fixed that. You may want to give that a try...
Hi there,

Please send our team a private message with your VIN and software level, so we can further investigate your vehicle concerns.

You can start by taking a look under your driver's seat. On trucks with the side view cameras, there is a processor module under the driver's seat. All the cameras used by the DRVM feed into this module and it outputs the video signal the mirror will display.

They were even nice enough to label all the video signals. RHOSM = Right Hand Outside Mirror, LHOSM = Left Hand Outside Mirror, CHMSL = Center High Mounted Stop Light, TRAILER = Trailer, and RVDM = Rear View Digital Mirror.

If there's any chance of wires being in your mirrors, you should have this box with wires connected to the RHOSM, and LHOSM. You should be able to see this under the seat without having to take anything apart.

Thanks so much! This is tremendously helpful!

Just checked and found the module, but no left and right camera wires. :( So its a much harder undertaking, to include finding the parts AND wiring.

The cameras are 68506525AA
I can’t find a part number for the camera bezel.
You can use Fakra Z RG58 coax cables to to run from the DRVM module to the doors and then to the mirror cameras.

There are two DRVMs. If you didn't get the towing tech package you don't have 3.0 which is the side and rear. The other DRVM is rear only.

So does that mean the 2022 camera would work for someone without the towing tech package?

No. The 22 system was made by Gentex. For the 23 they switched over to systems made by Magna. The two systems do not appear to be compatible.

I agree. The dealer wants me to drop it off for a few days so they can dig onto it. I am heading out of town until mid November so it will have to wait until then. What is drive me crazy is my speedometer is off due to the 37’s I have on, the dealer doesn’t want me to change the setting until they have the tire pressure thing figured out. They don’t want some one coming back and saying I caused the issue. I have a good relationship with these guys and they are just watching out for me..

Since I can't leave things alone, I have gone through the process of figuring out how to retrofit the 1.0, 2.0, and now 3.0 DRVMs into my 4th gen. I have a Teensy 3.2 that serves the role of the BCM to send the mirror the correct LIN messages to function. Going to from the 2.0 to 3.0 setup allowed the mirror to show the rearview but it did not let me select the the side views (can't test the triple trailer view without a trailer camera).

@CortexM0 sent me a LIN bus log from his truck since his has the side cameras enabled. I was able to get my mirror to show the side views after looking through the LIN messages his BCM was sending and modifying the code on my module accordingly. I am confident that the mirror gets the settings for camera setups from the BCM as I can change it from single view to single/double view with a couple parameter changes.

For anyone that plans to add the side cameras, settings changes in the BCM will be required to let the mirror know that there are side cameras present. I don't know which settings those are yet as I don't have a 2023 BCM to mess around with. It should be as simple as adding the cameras and changing the BCM setting once we figure out which BCM settings control the side cameras.

Possible prospects:

That might be for the "look down" cameras for surround view without tow mirrors instead of travel reverse guidance cameras.

Has anyone found the part numbers for all the pieces to add these cameras?

I have only seen the camera itself. Has to be a holder in the mirror.

Following this as well. I have the 3rd gen mirror and the under seat connection module, just looking for the correct cameras (or compatible) to add to the side view mirrors.
