2022 Ram HD Builds and orders - Post and discuss your TRUCK order here! ** NEW USERS READ POST #1 **

I
For those who have received their trucks, how long did the dealership take to inspect the vehicle? Does anyone know the inspection procedures? My truck arrived at the dealership Friday morning and has been going through the inspection since Friday around noon. I was told it would be ready for pick up Saturday evening, then I was informed the inspection wasn’t completed yet and it would be ready this evening. Just got a call and was told not today, maybe tomorrow but Wednesday at the latest. I have never ordered a vehicle before and I don’t know if this a normal procedure. The sales rep said there is nothing wrong with the vehicle the inspection just takes time.
was a mechanic for dodge jeep dealer and we got paid 1.5 hrs for pre delivery inspection then it goes to detail for clean up, so unless they are selling vehicles like crazy 2 days after drop you should be able to take delivery

Thanks for the info, if I don’t hear anything tomorrow during the day I plan to reach out to the service manager to see if I can get a better timeline. I feel bad for the sales rep because he is just the middle man between service and myself but the service manager wasn’t in over the weekend and I didn’t want to bother the service techs.

I can do a slow one in an hour.

I’m wondering if their service department just happened to be busy because it’s the weekend or slacked off a bit because there was no service manager this weekend (according to the sales rep).

No movement but got a response from Mike (@Stellantis).
The short version...
Rail car shortage. Shipping as many as possible each day. Forwarding VIN to plant to attempt to locate. Will check status daily and update ETA when shipped.

Pre-ordered 6/2021
Finalized Order~2/14/22
Scheduled 4/11/22
Built 7/5/22

I picked mine up the same day they received it.
The dealer I got it from is a lower volume local dealer so I'm sure that helped get it through the process.

I just hope yours didn't arrive with damage and they are stalling to get it fixed, I have seen that on here before

So far sounds like Union Pacific says my truck is gonna be in Washington on the 20th but I find that hard to swallow. I just am not happy about the lies I’ve been given and none of them involved hail damage, lost keys etc.. I want the truck and don’t want another 8 month wait. I have been happy since I joined this forum because I have gotten more information than I have elsewhere. Heck my dealer said it has shipped 6 times haha time will tell

It sounds like our trucks must be in the same delayed shipment. Ordered 2/26. Built 6/14. Fully optioned $100K truck. Instead of no communication I have gotten the "hail damage", "lost keys", "bad ECM", "shipping first in last out" and now my favorite just in from the manufacturers rep "we are trying to get them all out by the end of the year, but can't guarantee that". After talking to the dealership Sales Manager it sounds like he would love for people like us to cancel their orders so he can then sell the truck to someone else for $15k more when it finally comes in. It is obvious why they don't care. Great business practices on behalf of FCA and the dealership!

That's very possible!

The tracker said mine was delivered on 9/27 but I didn't get notified from the dealer until 10/3. I was not paying attention to the tracker, so it was a surprise to me. I didn't ask what the delay was for.

I dont know what all goes in to it. But I was told it would not take more than 4 hours. I did request that they check all firmware and apply any software updates. I also requested that they not add anything to the truck at the dealer, and damn sure not to add their dealership sticker.

How do you know it was offloaded in Atlanta if it still shows as not shipped?
I get emails form RAM care and BRV10 verifies what they send me. Pluse the dealer can see it as well. Build tracker is still wrong this Monday morning and I am expecting it to be on their lot by noon today.

What about mine from February... LOL. He has yet to respond to me.
I would say give him time. it took me a couple weeks to get his attention. Im sure he is working on more than one truck at a time. I also imagine he has had a massive influx of people wanting him to work magic for them.

It's not very involved and usually done by the lowest man on the totem pole (my brother is an ex mechanic and told me)

Remove shipping materials, install floormats, remove window sticker, fill with fuel, send to detail. If any major shipping damage is noticed then gets escalated to a manager for next steps. An hour tops.

The dealer doesn't spend any time road testing or doing any thorough QA and most issues are going to be found by us, the customer. For example at delivery my truck was assembled, shiny and full of gas. But the tire pressures were never adjusted (90 PSI plus), the steering wheel was not centered (I fixed myself) and the sunroof was non functional (wasn't hooked up). My sales rep, bless her heart, says she took the truck to get fueled up and it drove like a dream! Like, what else would she say?! Drove like crap?

Anyhow, the dealer was certainly very detailed and slow when it came time for payment! HA!

I really wish I could just order direct from the factory, take delivery myself and put the thing together. I'd do a better job.

I heard for the 2023 orders RAM is starting a pre-sales support class to prepare for the order process. Those that enroll will be lied to, given false excuses, mis quoted time frames, false interest rates, a list of incentives they dont qualify for and ignored. They will also get the first view of options fo rthe 2023 model year that they cant order. once they loose all hope and suffer from anxiety attacks, they will be placed in to a PTSD course. Only after completion will they be allowed to order but for 20k more than the 22.

The folks that ordered the 2020's were glad they missed the 21 problems. The 2021 orders were glad they missed the 2022 problems. The 2022 orders were glad they missed the..... Well you get it.

Thanks for the thorough answer. Appreciate the breakdown of what is actually involved in dealer “inspection”

My truck was off loaded at the dealer at 4:00pm Friday, and I picked it up Saturday at 4:00pm.
