2022 6.4L Tradesman - First Impressions

You will get used to the steering. The 2500 uses a recirculating ball steering system, as opposed to the rack and pinion you are used to in light trucks and cars. It's not as precise. It has more play that causes the wondering. My previous truck was my first 3/4 ton, and i thought something was wrong with the steering as i was driving it home from the dealer. I had the dealer look at it and they compared it to others on the lot, and mine was no different. My current truck is the same as well, but i am used to it and think nothing of it.

ETA: By play, i mean more of a "dead spot" when centered

It’s even worse when towing with the stock Transcrap tires. It can’t just go straight. It has to bounce back and forth in the lane (albeit very gradually.) Hopefully I can get new AT tires soon.

Lower the tire pressure down to 50 or less. I run mine at 45/40 but I've changed tires to BFG 35's. the 65/60 is for when the truck is fully loaded. Don't need that much when running empty and the ride will be that much better.

Ooh, yes. Totally agree with Crusty old shellback on this. And if you alternate between an empty bed and axle weight while towing, your tires will thank you. In our 3500 SRW I'd run the tires up to 80 when the fifth wheel was connected, and down to 50 or lower when running around empty.

Thanks for the Tradesman report; looking forward to getting my new one soon!

Good call on the optioned tradesman. The chrome looks good.
Mine should be arriving this month. Happy ram didnt make me spend 2800 on a safety pacKage i would personally never use. ( rearveiw mirror cameras etc, lane assist.)

Beautiful truck, congrats! I have all tires at 55psi. I have not noticed any wandering aside from caused by the road.
