I’d like to get a new 2021 but I read about UConnect 5, which won’t show up until this time next year. Anyone think it would be possible to go from a 2021 unconnect 4 to a 2022 uconnect 5? I know some hardware would need to be changed.

But if it could be done for $1000 I’d do it. Thoughts

It’s 4 grand for the current 12.1“ system from infotainment.com, so I would say that would be the starting amount you should consider an upgrade to cost in the future...

Isn't the main upgrade just support for wireless android auto / apple carplay?? I don't remember anything else highlighted.

When do you think we will see news on the 2022 2500/3500?

Hoping they'll be available in the late summer instead of late fall early Winter.

Be sure to follow the instructions and update to the latest firmware and it works like a champ, takes about 10-15 seconds to sync up while the car starts and then it works great every time.

The irony is you still have to plug in if you want to charge unless you have the wireless charging option.

I have the wireless charging option, so it’s nice for long drives but I would think you could work up an aftermarket solution for that pretty easily.

just leaving your phone in your pocket is really handy though for short drives.

I spoke to a dealer yesterday who informed me orders for the 2022 production will be accepted in early July (No exact date yet) - expect delivery September. The 3500 will get the new Uconnect 5.0 & likely new transmission - my dealer indicated it would be worth the wait!

Says the dealer who may or may not be full of it. Believe it when it happens.

Well supposedly they are stopping orders for 21's and starting 22' models soon so why not just wait if you really want the uconnect 5 ? Probably be cheaper then upgrading later.

Wonder what the fuel pump debacle of 2022 will be. Might be good to let others beta test the 22’s and aim for a 23? Not sure the early adopters were jazzed last time.

Me thinks by that time, our trucks will be at the $100k price point and then some.

Ordered a 21 3500 Longhorn 4/12/21. I decided on not waiting for the 22's. I was taught to never buy the first year of a model/generation. Be it the new USA factory, new transmission, new anything else, I'm OK with what they have ben building for a couple years, and hopefully know what they are doing. We have a couple of the new Ford 10-spd's in our company fleet, and I did not like the way the gears were so close. Why have a 10-spd if you are in 10th at 35 mph. When I drove it, i was in 6th by 25 mph, and 10th by 35 mph? That and the 6.7 Cummins felt like a comfortable slipper compared to the 2004 5.9 I am replacing,

Patiently waiting for D1 status.
