Ram released this TSB to its dealers on 3/15/2025. I just stumbled upon it today while reviewing the NHTSA manufacturer communications page for other updates.
IMG_1326.jpegYes. You are indeed reading that correctly.
Their current solution is to add some snake oil to your crankcase and send you on your merry way.

(Side note: I don’t know why they have it marked as “SA” for market applicability, but my guess is that’s a typo and it’s supposed to be NA for North America)

A search for TUNAP 955 does appear to be a product sold and/or available in the European market, only.

Its basically the same as “Engine Restore” which is sold here which is actually pretty good stuff project farm did a good video on it but I have used it a few times and got a good bump in compression on older engines.

We’re missing the essential question here;

Why does the engine need an additive?

If this engine needs an oil additive in order to operate quietly, then:

A) Ram is on the hook to supply that additive for the life of the vehicle.

B) The switch to hydraulic lifters in the pursuit of a quieter engine and reduced NVH seems like it was pointless if it now makes such noise that it needs an additive to quiet it down.

C) some oils aren’t as good as others and leave deposits in a poorly designed hydraulic lifter that needs cleaned out with an additive.

The holes in the lifters are too small to let oil pass. Any dirt would block it or even too thick of oil.
My engine noise showed up for the first time about 300 miles after installing synthetic 10w30 ADN, after about 1400 miles I went back to 5w40 DEO and still ticking, its not as loud but you never hear it on first start up of the day even if it sat for 3+ days, ya only hear it after restarting..

That does not clean as much as it fills voids and scratches in surfaces. Hence why it helps with compression. The engine restore is the north American equivalent and it cant be used in the 7.3 powerstroke because it plugs up the HPOP injectors and they have to be replaced after.

Nope, I’m calling BS. First it’s for SA not NA and it says that the TUNAP 955 is already part of regular maintenance. NOPE. I don’t buy it.

Its from NHTSA so its clearly not BS….

I doubt the NHTSA would be uploading these documents if it was solely directed toward the South American market. Why would an American governmental agency keep documents that are only pertinent to SA?

I searched it up directly on the nhtsa website and it’s there. It’s just unbelievable that this is their “repair”. Why not just put molasses in there right?

Just bought some by switching to Germanys Amazon and delivering to the US. Will see if it actually brings the noise down that I hear during high idle

O so it’s not an oil additive. Ridiculous, mine honestly sounds like a waste gate rattle of some type until the engine warms a min or two then it’s gone
