2020 ordering?

Our government shut down the southern border but still open to buisness an trade

When I ordered my 2015 from DSM I very clearly explained up front that I do not want any dealer add-ons. Take it off the truck, install the B&W like I asked, perform the PDI, and that's it. And oh BTW, please tell your F&I guy not to waste his breath, 'cause I ain't biting. The salesman was a nice young guy, and agreed, "no problem". Sure enough the truck gets to them, and they call to complete the transaction, so they could FedEx everything to me for signatures before they would ship the truck. Then, the F&I guy gets on the phone and starts rattling off the numbers, and says "window tint"... WHOA, hold on, I specifically said I don't want any of that. He says all vehicles get it. NOPE, not mine, sir. Things get pretty hot, and he eventually caved, and took it off. He was really cheesed that I didn't bite on the warranty either. They will always take a swing at you.

I agree, you have to make your final stand. This is how I started my deal an I'm sure something will happen an ill have to finish the deal the same way. You have to be willing to walk away, the dealer won't, they'll just pressure.

I walked out on a 17 2500 because they tried raising price that sales manager emailed me night before. I ended up not only not buying the truck, but also getting $500 check for my trouble. My wife and I raised Holy H@!!. It wasn't my color anyway, and we vowed to NEVER do business with ANY dealer in that group again. I will test drive through them, waste their time, and then I say, I'll call you!

My salesman started off with Bill Romer, but about half way through he left/quit the dealership and my account was taken over by Gunnar Koval.

A couple of things to clarify - the glass is not actually etched. Instead it's actually called an Express Code Marking System - here's a link https://us.portfolioco.com/our-products/anti-theft-products/express-code/
It marks various body panels with a label - doors, tail gate etc. They pay $2500 if the vehicle is stolen, and not recovered. Given that I have insurance that covers theft, this seems totally pointless. Plus it expires after three years. I've attached a pic of what the sticker looks like.

The cost was not what pissed me off - it was just sneaking it onto the contract without saying anything, and acting like it was no big deal when I called him on it. They also dinged me for a $349 doc fee instead of $299 which they had indicated on a previous email (didn't catch it until I went back through my emails). Another BS fee.

Bear in mind that I needed the truck to drive home since I had just flown in. I'm fine with walking out of a dealership but it would have been a long walk home! Plus since I had ordered the truck specifically, I had paid a $1000 non refundable deposit. So it makes no sense to walk out over a $300 fee and lose $1000 plus the long walk home!! Sure if you're walking into a dealership and buying off the lot, but that's not the case here.

As far as the extended warranty is concerned, I'm fine paying about $500/yr beyond the factory warranty. The extended warranty will cover it for 4 years after the factory warranty expires. I received a quote for 7 yrs/100,000 miles with a $200 deductible from Ziegler for $2165. I paid $1997, so I'm fine with that. It's in line with what an extended warranty should cost for 7 years/100,000 miles.

So I wasn't going to blow the deal up over a stupid $300 fee - I can argue that once I get back home. Where the Dennis Dillon dealership screwed up was leaving me pissed off over a stupid $300 fee. Instead of having a satisfied customer, now they have one that's pissed off. Dumb move on their part.

As far as damage on the truck, once I got it home and detailed it, I found two areas that were damaged. Just below the drivers side mirror there is damage to the clear coat, and on the bottom of the door sill there are scratch marks that are through the paint. Not sure what to do about those. Maybe someone from Ram Care can reach out?

Again, is the extended warranty you purchased Mopar Max Care or some 3rd party warranty? If it's a 3rd party, I highly recommend that you call immediately and cancel it, if it's Mopar Max Care then you're fine and got a decent price. I'd still call them when you get home, speak to the manager and demand a refund for their etching scam. There's absolutely no reason to pay for that regardless of whether they already put those "invisible" dots all over the body panels and doors or not. It's a complete dealer scam.

Well your better than me. I've got such a god deal because I'm willing to walk out over $300, an they know I will is why they deal. I'm similar to you as I ordered my vehicle 1000 miles from where I was and have traveled there for the time being until it comes in. I will be completely honest. If mine comes in with scratches like that an they try screwing me 300 here or there. I'll refuse the truck an drive home. If there any kind of reputable dealership at all they won't keep your deposit, they shouldn't of even asked for one since you were so committed to fly out to there dealership an do buisness with them. GOOD FAITH. We have waited to long an paid to much to put up with that kind of experience. But I also do realize every ones situation is unique an I'm not critical of your decision, I'm just stating about a hypothetical if I we're to go through it.

I'm talking with a tech guy from ram. Does any one have any links they can post about the maxtow pkg were it talks about getting the bigger brakes so i can show him.

Just got an email from Dave Smith motors.....0% for 84 months. plus deferred payments for 90 days....at least on 2019 3500's

How many have exercised the “free $100 gift card” for test drive? What’s the hitch? As I am feeling poorer, $100 could come in handy.;);)

I got mine saved in my email. No catch, you show up an take a test drive. Or if your on first name basis with your sales, give him the coupon an tel him you will test drive yours home an he'll give you a pre paid card. Jing a ling

A test drive is on the horizon...... as long as there’s no credit check, so tired of credit inquiries. Amazing, how little info they need anymore to do one.

I'm also gonna try one other thing the day before I pick up my truck. Now I know some have tried this but I figure what do I have to loose. I put together an email with 6 articles frtom ram stating that 50 gal tank comes standard with hd crew with 8 ft bed. To try to get another 295 knocked off at the last minute. Who knows, they have been great to me so far. My salesman even told me that he would fill up my 50 gal tank for free, hell to the yah

I brought up the test drive in brief conversation with salesman an he didn't say anything about credit check, just said bring in your coupon. But who knows. Then he said man were paying you to take this thing. Hahaha, yupppeerrrrr

I do believe this is the way they hide the true dealer costs.

Believe me. I can't believe how bad they want me to buy from them. I've never had a sales experience like this one , that's for sure. It's crazy all the goodies they'll throw at you when they want to sell.
