So ere is the issue, my wipers (I do not have rain sensitive wipers) go on and off on there own. When the wipers are going up, very slowly, they are straining, the headlights will go out, the AC/Heater fan will shut off, the radio volume drops dpwn and the anti skid light comes on the dash. When the wipers drop the lights flicker back on, the radio works and the fan works again. This has been happening for months now and I have taken the truck back to the dealer 3 times, cannot find the issue. Hopefully someone on this site can point me in some direction on trying to find this issue.

If I were just to take a wild guess, I would say it was a bad wiper switch. It needs to be addressed regardless of what it is.

I would follow the procedures outlined in you owner's manual for dealing with issues like this. This is the relevant page:

Manual-

This is why you should always talk to an authorized dealer
service manager first. Most matters can be resolved with this
process.
• If for some reason you are still not satisfied, talk to the
general manager or owner of the authorized dealer. They
want to know if you need assistance.
• If an authorized dealer is unable to resolve the concern,
you may contact the manufacturer's customer center.
Any communication to the manufacturer's customer center
should include the following information:
• Owner's name and address
• Owner's telephone number (home and office)
• Authorized dealer name
• Vehicle Identification Number (VIN)
• Vehicle delivery date and mileage

Thanks, I did make some calls. I also agree with you about the wipers, but the service tech didn't think that is the issue. They did order the wiper stalk, I'm trying to push the service rep at the dealer to install the stalk to rule that out, if it occurs after they replace it.

Mark,

Thanks for the advice, I have contacted a case specialist a few days ago. I have not heard back from her. I will probably have to start making some phone calls today.

I had a 16 REBEL with gremlins living in it. Had several problems with the electrical system. One time on a failed start-up the wipers went crazy and would not turn off which was bad because they started while frozen to the windshield. They wiped slow and dash lights everywhere. What kept me sane was change the battery ever fall. The battery looked ok and tested decent but if not up to challenge would cause major issues. These new rolling computers need a lot of electricity, the gas ones should have duel batteries and the diesels should have three! This might not be your problem but might be worth the try. As long as the dealer see’s a battery under the hood they will say all is good.

Hey jmekeel,

If you'd like to send over your VIN or case number via PM, I would be more than happy to look into this for you as well as flag your case manager.

Great White North,

Thanks for that info, I will have the dealer do a load test on the battery. I was thinking myself that the alternator could be causing the issue also.

Hi jmekeel,

Thank you for sending that over. I have documented your outreach within your case and requested that you receive a follow up as soon as possible. Please do not hesitate to reach back out should you have any trouble connecting with your case manager moving forward.

Daybreak,
I have done that and check any connections that I could reach or find without putting the truck on a lift.

Does anyone know if there is a separate fuse for the wiper motor? I pulled the fuse that said Ft Wipers, the wiper switch was disabled, but the wipers/wiper motor continued to move with the issue I am having.

Mines having a similar issue. While driving some back roads late at night I was cycling between pulling back for high beams, and every other time almost the wipers would come on for one cycle. Did you find a resolution for yours yet? Also another possible issue every so often the engine makes a distinct dripping/tick sound, perfectly timed at 3 ticks then repeats. Any ideas?

Dealer thinks it’s the wiper switch. Hopefully Thursday or Friday the switch will be in. I will let you know the outcome.

Well they replaced the blinker/wiper lever, didn’t fix the problem. I received a call from the assistant service manager, they are removing the headlights to see if they are causing the problem.

Thx for updating, maybe your pain will help someone else in diagnosis somewhere down the line.

Well I don’t want to speak to soon, but the dealership called and they think they found the issue. Apparently the is a broken element in the left headlight, the one that would flash on and off with the wipers. They ordered a new one today, hopefully they have it Tuesday.
I have to give the dealership credit, they had 2 guys working on it for several hours the last few days,
Hudson Valley Jeep Dodge Ram in Newburgh, NY
I forgot to mention, they are the LED headlights.

I’ll be darned who would have thunk a burnt out thing-amabob would cause it. Do you know how long to get a new light? Glad your dealer is on the ball makes a huge difference.
