Was curious if anyone has held both in hand and if they’re the same size or if the 5th gen 1500 trucks have a smaller fob? It’s a strange complaint, but man the fob is thick on the hd trucks when stuffed into a pair of Wranglers

The fobik from my buddies 2019 1500 Laramie looked and felt identical to my 2020 2500 Laramie fobik.

But both are noticeably larger than I had on both my 2015 1500 and my 2016 2500.

Thank you, it is for sure bigger than what I’ve had in the past for Ram, I get they probably wanted folks to be able to hit the buttons with gloves on etc. but damn it’s like having a fat wallet in ones pocket

Are you talking about the fob for keyless entry/start or the normal one?

Dont wear skinny jeans you wont have that feeling

The key fob for a big horn, Laramie etc. lock, unlock, remote start, tailgate, etc. I’m far from skinny jeans with my old school wrangler cowboy cut denim, sure they’re no Big Smith overalls or like my carhartts, but damn my super duty fob was not even this fat and everything in that truck was bigger than the ram. Anyway was more curious than anything if the true 5th gens had a slimmer fob that might work with our trucks, cheers!

Everything is bigger in the HD world. Can't be walking around with a chump sissy FOB for a truck with steering knuckles this big.

While I appreciate the humor and understand the above, there’s a legit reason why Apple made the iPhone mini this year, not everyone likes bigger and was legitimately curious if fca used the same fob across platforms

I just traded a 19 1500 DT for my 2500. The fob for the 2500 is bigger overall. Thicker and a smidge longer but narrower at the same time. Kind of like an egg. At least for mine. Mine is the basic fob no start or tailgate drop. My 1500 had remote start and was still smaller.

For the guy saying the range sucks, put the fob to your chin while you press the buttons. Works like a charm. I’ll probably get a brain tumor some day from it but it works every time for me.

I found the opposite. I traded a 2019 DT for a 2500 and I don't notice a difference in size at all. I also have a harder time with the 2500 FOB from long distance, but I also have a much harder time with the HomeLink garage door opener and the XM antenna has less reception (like quite a lot of people) so it could be something in the truck configuration interfering.

If you think the Ram fob is big, check out a Jeep wrangler JL fob! The thing is huge!

Is that to fit more Jeep logos? We rented one when my wife's car was getting some body work. The FOB was stupid big but hey it will fit in a purse.

On a side note: really not impressed with the Wranglers. Fit, finish, and features are 20 years behind the price tag. But I guess the people who want to be cool care more about those logos everywhere.

Lots of Jeep logos, yes.. and easter eggs hidden throughout.
Have you driven wranglers in the past? This is by far the nicest and best driving they have ever been. I still would not want to daily drive mine, but no longer are you making such huge comfort compromises and sacrifices to drive a Jeep...I have been daily driving mine since August when I blew the motor on my last 6.7 Ram. Thankful to have the Jeep back to recreational duty.

The price has gotten insane, but so has the price on everything...and now they have the tech, luxury features, plus all the traditional Jeep features they are known for...so it kind of makes sense.

When I met my wife she had a TJ with a budget 4 inch lift and 33x10's. She loved it but even she would admit it was a total piece of crap. It ate expensive OEM parts for breakfast and not even because of the cheesy lift kit. Using that and the 2019 1500 as a baseline, she was super disappointed in the 2020 Sport S we rented and wants to wait to see if some upgrades trickle down from Ram/FCA. For what they are charging for stock units I could build something way better for way less, minus the Uconnect stuff.
