UPDATE. I now have tried getting any trouble codes by hooking up a scanner. In fact I’ve tried two different scanners and neither one of them can connect to my truck.
I’ve tried disconnecting the batteries again, tiring the cables together for 30 minutes, hooking up a booster vehicle and my second FOB.
No difference.
The code number I got by going back to the dealer only unlocked the radio.
This happened mid day Friday and as of yesterday mid morning it still had this problem. The batteries were connected during this time, almost 24 hours.

I would have the batteries tested somewhere else like AutoZone, OReilly or even a WM. The dealer might just be trying to get extra money from you for something you really don’t need. Make sure though if you replace one, you replace both batteries even if only one is bad.
