ok.... Yes, you are saying I would hit the minus button then enter say 5th gear IF I had a need for it to "hold" that gear for a given situation (i.e. climbing a steep grade, pulling very heavy load a short distance, etc)
ZF Transmission Guy---you are right.
But here is what I ran into--when I would follow your steps above it would show the gear I was in at all times, but it was "temporary" only---it would not show the gear next time I cranked the truck. Let me know if I did it wrong...
Going through...
HouseMouse,
I hear you---I had the same issue. I assume you have a 2025 or 2026 Ram HD?
If so:
1, Turn key ON.
2. Arrow down to "7. Commercial settings"
3. Left or right arrow to "Settings"
4. Now arrow down to "Current Gear". Turn on...
you got it......
RebelForge,
Yes, I have noticed the wait to start light is seriously under 10 seconds on a cold morning.
(I personally installed the BD Diesel Killer Grid Heater Upgrade Kit on my 2017---it was a pretty big job. The "wait time" on the previous generations is longer, but it is not a big deal).
Yes, I know the 2025-26 Ram Cummins trucks have electrical issues (I am dealing with a minor electrical issue now), but they are not ALL bad..
Let's add some positivity!
What I like BEST about the 2025 Ram Cummins:
1. Super smoooooth ride.
2. Excellent drive/handling --"Drives like a dream"...
UPDATE:
I have an appointment to carry truck into dealer Monday (02/02/2026) at 7:30am for them to open a STAR case on the erratic/floating DPF gauge. The previous Rapid Response ECM flash did not fix the floating DEF gauge. Also, the check engine light (CEL) is on---dealer put it on machine...
Mbren1979,
Thanks for the info... My 2025 already has good throttle response, but I am sure Pedal Monster would make it much more responsive.
I am sure you don't have the answers but here are my thoughts/questions related to the Pedal Monster:
1. How will the use of PM affect regens, DPF, DEF...
I sure hope these kits are NOT needed in the 2025-2026 engines. As spending this $3999 plus tax and the labor to install would add up to a major expense.
I have a friend that has had both a 2022 and 2023 Ram 2500 and has had no issues with the lifters/engine.
Does anyone know of the...
ok...towing a little over 20K fifth wheel changes the ball game.... That being said, I would say your shift points are normal....
I have been towing all types of RV's over the past 30 years-->20K is a BIG 5th wheel.....
A few months back I pulled my 22-foot Travel trailer on a 4000-mile trip. I do not recall it ever redlining in between the gears. I always press the tow/haul button--this "extends" the shift points but not to redline---unless you really hammer the throttle. Has it red line in between shifts...
TK42ONE,
Is the dealer replacing the entire DEF tank with all its components OR the DEF pump itself?
(the only reason I ask is because I am still working with my dealer to get the issue resolved)
Obviously after spending over $107K this is very frustrating to say the least. Some other 2025-2026 truck owners are reporting some of the same issues you list here.. Almost all issues I have read about are "electrical" related. Notice I said "some"--meaning some 2025-2026 report ZERO issues...
mbarber84, ok...yes, much better wording :).. This being said I will stick with the standard dose (1oz/10 gallons).
Sorry to hear about the tough bug----I decree Exodus 15:26 over you for a speedy and full recovery! "For I am the Lord who heals you.” NKJV
