marlow.v2,
I don't think this is a major issue on the 2025-2026 Rams. The deal is--a person just has to take "extra time" to change the fuel filters---until the redesigned lid is available---I would not hold my breath on this new lid being released anytime soon. It appears to me they...
Quick update:
A BIG thank you to the Ram Cares Team! I opened a case with the Ram Cares team a few days ago--my local Service Advisor called me this past Thursday saying he now has my Trailer Module in hand for this recall. They installed the part yesterday (04/17/26). I have not pulled a...
Same here.
My DEF tank was replaced 2 weeks ago---DEF gauage has worked correctly since that day.
I opened a RAM Cares case a few days back--A BIG Thank you to this team!---they were able to communicate with my Service Advisor and get the part to my Ram dealer--I have an appointment for the...
This is not a twister---say you "limit" the gear to say 6th gear---the tranny will not shift past 6th gear--it is that simple. Honestly, I see Gear Limiter feature used very seldom--for example: Pretend you are pulling a very heavy load up a steep hill (i.e short distance)--in this case you...
That is right--let the tranny take care of that.
When you are towing and put in Tow/Haul mode--it will not "lug" anyway--the ZF 8 spd tranny will automatically downshift to prevent lugging. IF you are towing heavy and driving slower (say 50 mph)--the tranny will not let it go in 8th gear...
I am sure those "hips" felt big, but you will get used to it---I have a 3/4 now but I still like a dually.
Let me clarify a little more on the above:
As far as working the truck--I do NOT mean always "starting off" fast--this is unnecessary wear and tear on drive train and transmission.
I am...
"I just don't have any real world experience with Ram HD diesel engines and, when you read up on this, or any of the BIG 3, you would get advice that you should get a gasser because you are not running your diesel engine truck enough for the diesel emission systems to do what they do naturally."...
Good News...
UPDATE: (for the guys out there that may be having the same floating DEF gauge issue)
The dealer replaced the whole DEF tank--got it out of shop yesterday--so far, so good...
I carried my truck in for the floating DEF gauge issue last week. I told the Service Advisor to fix the Trailer turn signal/Trailer brakes recall issue while they had it in the shop. He told me the same thing--they are only allowed to order a few parts at a time---therefore he said they...
UPDATE:
I had an appointment and carried my truck back to Ram Dealership today for the "floating" DEF gauge. This was the 3rd trip for this issue. Service advisor stated they have ordered a new DEF tank today--will take it about a week to come in. They will call me when they receive DEF Tank...
mbarber84,
Yes, an EXCELLENT video!
This really helps me to understand the whole roller/lifter/quality control/manufacturing issue/fretting/CGI block issue(s) MUCH better. I am finally able to "connect the dots" more on these issues.
It would appear the returning to a Cast Iron block in the...
Good discussion guys...
In addition to the quality control/manufacturing issues, I think you have to add Brutal Ho comment "I think there's merit to the theory proffered by many including Dave that the CGI block has too much flex and the lifters are "fretting" due to this."
To summarize--when...
mbarber84,
Good info--thanks.
This sentence caught my attention: "They did, however, change the manufacturer for the roller that attaches to the lifter body."
Do you have any more details on this?
Quick FACT that relates to this topic:
I know for a fact that the 2025 Ram's hit James Oneal Dodge in Breman, GA on about March 10, 2025--this is a big Ram dealer in GA that sells a LOT of HD Rams.
Since they hit the ground exactly about 1 year ago tomorrow--there should be some higher mileage...
