The front diff pinion bearings are shot on my 2013 PW. One of the bearings dissintegrated, the other is intact but was loose ... the trans shop is telling me I need a new housing. Neither they nor I can find a housing anywhere! Not new, not used! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Nothing really special about a PW axle housing, Just find another 2500 housing that fits your truck.

Did you see the damage, I'd be surprised that a Pinion bearing would ruin a complete housing unless the truck was driven for thousands of miles with a bad bearing

The PW axle housing is slightly different for the locker but i think a normal axle can be modified to work

Part 68065464AB ?
You may have accidentially left out two fours, but the P/N I'm looking for is 68065444AB
I did find one on eBay today and bought it. Hopefully it is a good one. It came from a 2012 PW with 85K miles that had a cab fire.

About two months ago, the front axle would not turn unless I put it in 4wd and even then I could hear bad (grinding, clunking) noises. The trans shop told me there was no oil in unit and no obvious leak. One bearing had disintegrated, the other was still intact but was loose and showed wear. So I believe I did in fact drive for thousands of miles with low to no oil. At the time, the trans shop told me that there could be something wrong with the housing. They replaced the bearings and seals. About two months later which was two weeks ago, the same thing happened. So they are suggesting we replace the entire diff housing ... but they (new) are nowhere to be found. At least one specific to the PW. Even used, specific to 2010-2013 PW are rare.

I can only assume that only differences between a PW housing vs 2500 (other than gear ratio) would be external mountings. Does anyone know exactly what the differences are?

The mounts are the same, internals would be different.

That trans shop sounds like a poor axle shop

Different internals such as the locker… i believe the only difference is a hole for the locker control

So the assembly showed up and we sent it back. Turns out for at least 2013 there are two different front differential assemblies. One with a serrated pinion flange (the one that arrived today) and one with a flat pinion flange (the one on my truck) . We checked with dealership parts dept and P/N 68065463AB w/serrated pinion flange and P/N 68216164AA with flat faced pinion flange ... dealership said they are NOT interchangeable, so we sent the serrated flange unit back.
The search continues! Sheesh :(

I'm actually having the truck taken over to an axle specialist who is going to have a look at it. They axle specialist tells me they have worked on many of these trucks and specialize in 4x4 and offroad applications. Noot that I do much if any wheeling, but hopefully they can repair and/or modify a housing if that is what is needed.
I had it a a transmission shop and I'm realizing that while they can work on axles and replace parts, they are not necessarily axle specialists. Hoping to get better results and a final repair with the axle specialist.

I can tell you that the Serrated flange exists for 2012 as well, My 2012 3500 Had that flange. Just FYI
