We don't have salt here in TX. Rocks and dirt yes. I pressure wash the truck prior to the foam cannon and that usually removes anything holding in the grates. I think I have one rock wedged in there that doesn't want to come out.I put Aries running boards (not wheel to wheel ) on my truck, love the look of your steps and mine. Question for you is, do you have a problem with the grating holding dirt and salt?? Mine have looked like crap all winter.

I had the 'silver' ones on my 1500 for 4 years with zero issues.
My Westins began to rust as well after a harsh winter but I contacted Westin and they shipped me a new set for free.Another Vote for these running boards, they're a simple design, they're very reasonably priced, and they're aluminum so they'll hold up to the salty winters better. I had steel westin boards on my old 2015 and they were rotting out pretty bad by 2020.
