Jumped in the truck yesterday 3500 DRW HO (odometer at 850 miles), and it began making a "Rrrrrrrrrrr" noise when I press the accelerator. (sry, lack of a better way to explain that).
Not like a turbo whistle whine, but a "rrrrrrrrrr" sounding whine...

Now, it caught my attention and I do not believe I have heard it before (idk I may have but it sounded different), so posting to see if that might be any reason for concern, or I am just crazy.

Knowing this is vague, and attempted to be more precise) it just sounded like the engine was working really hard (harder than usual).

No noticeable difference in driving performance or anything, so...

Should my sophomoric diesel experience lead me to be concerned?
Does this sound familiar to anyone?

(shot in the dark, i may be crazy).

I hope?

I feel vibrations in the accelerator.
Seems like the engine is really grindy now, and it was most certainly that way up to this point. Not running as smooth as it was.

Believe I am going to have it checked out tomorrow.

Something is not right I fear.

I had a noise like that. Turns out mine was the bearings on my aux alternator. Fun replacement after only 60k miles

I hope it's nothing serious and gets sorted out.

Taking it in tomorrow AM. fingers grossed.

I have a few possibilities (from near identical sounds in YouTube vids)

Boost pressure leak
Maybe intercooler hose?

Failed torque converter

Power steering pump
Power steering line issue

Transmission filter clogged (unlikely being so new, idk)
Bad Transmission (greatest fear)

Will keep ya'll updated.

Cool, glad it was identified. Fixed and reported back on the forum so we wouldn’t be hanging out for an answer. So I’m late to the party because my smart ass comment would have been “Pirates!”
