Which rear seal?My rear seal is leaking on my 2020 Ram 2500. Passenger side. Do I need special tools to replace it? How hard it is?
I knew I didn’t list enough.Axle seal
I heard it is best to count how many turns it took to remove the axle nut and to sand with 3000 grit sand paperThe axle bearings will need to have their preload set correctly.
Also check the seal surface(s) for grove/nicks and fix before reassembly.
Holy smokes I could probably pay someone to replace the seal instead of buying all the tools needed to replace itit can be challenging if you have never done one before. But it's pretty straight forward. Watch a few youtube videos. The seal is press fit into the hub. So, you have to remove the axle shaft to remove the hub. The axle also has a seal at the hub. Not sure if this type is reusable. To take the hub off you need to remove the spindle nut. There is a tool for that as well. Spindle hub nut socket. https://torqueking.com/product/1025/qt1025-universal-4-lug-and-6-lug-spindle-hub-nut-socket/

No you tighten it down and back it off do not sand anything unless it needs it and that tool list is not really needed only the hub nut socket is needed and a tq wrenchI heard it is best to count how many turns it took to remove the axle nut and to sand with 3000 grit sand paper
I watched couple of videos and it seems once you remove the key the nut should come off easy?No you tighten it down and back it off do not sand anything unless it needs it and that tool list is not really needed only the hub nut socket is needed and a tq wrench
Read the linked instructions it has a tq spec with the back off amount to set the bearings. Is there a certain torque I should tighten that axle nut to with the special socket?
