Hey guys, I have a 2019 3500 SRW, I just noticed my rear axle is not centered. Difference of a half inch when measuring from frame to outside of tire. I haven’t read this one before. Anyone else have this issue? I’m taking it to the dealer next week to have it looked at.

I totally agree with you. On mine When I went to wash it the first time I noticed the roof was pushed in and there were scratches where the robot drilled for the clearance lights. I had to take it back for repair and repaint. And they had to replace the front bumper that was damaged on shipment. If they actually did move the 3500 assembly line to Michigan, it’s probably a good thing.

Hey @SQUATCH - If you would be interested in having a case escalated for your dealer visit, please do not hesitate to follow up with me via private message. I would be happy to get you set up with a specialist for further support.

I hate to open up an old wound, but was there any resolution on this @SQUATCH ?

I notice mine is off as well. Shame that my 04.5 was so well built and these new trucks are so wonky.

I didn't measure from frame, but rear axle is not centered with box for sure. I noticed it when installing mud guards. They dont cover tires the same way on each side.

But I dont want to mess with it as both the cab and box are aligned respectively to each other.

That is just me who noticed the small difference. It can't really be seen if you are not looking for it.

Still, poor design or quality...

it is normal on a solid axle if you think about how your axle is attached your axle is moving side to side all the time as you drive and hit bumps etc. (not just up and down) raise your truck up the axle will shift load it down your axle will shift. want it perfect at rest you could get an adjustable rear track bar.

Yup, what he said...There is probably a sideload from when you stopped and parked it. Did you turn into your driveway (not Hocus Pocus turned-into) when you parked? I bet if you put a chalk mark on the pavement parallel with the outside edge of the tire(s), jacked up the frame...say by the trailer hitch just enough to take weight off the axle and then set it back down, you'd have a different placement of the tire on the pavement. My big scary class 8 truck slowly skips the tires back when it is being unloaded or load, more unloaded because of the side-load when it was parked. No debate needed, take into account that his theory is presented to you by a guy who always sat in the back of the class.

Not all of us have coil sprung rear suspension...

Mine is a 3500, leaf springs, so track bar ain’t a thing with this. It moves straight up and down through the travel. Sorry brutal, I missed ya earlier on the question. I’m just ignoring it at this point. I pretty much figure I’ll be told it’s normal from what I’ve heard from other folks.

Does it affect the performance of the truck ? as in, drivability , ride quality , vibrating , just curious on how this might affects the truck.

Thing drives straight. I haven’t noticed anything. I don’t think I’ve put enough miles on the tires to see an issue, but I’ll watch out for it.

So you had enough play in the leaf spring perches to center it?
