Question : a Engine 6.7 RAM 2500 longhorn standard 2017 in a 3500HO 2015 Tradesman, will it work?

Bonjour à tous et bonnes fêtes à tous.

Je m'explique : j'ai un Ram dually tradesman 3500 HO qui a 1 million de km. J'ai du mal à trouver un moteur identique, j'ai donc acheté un moteur 2500 Longhorn et j'aimerais l'installer dans mon camion, mais avec l'ordinateur du 3500 actuel. A votre avis, est-ce que ça va fonctionner ou pas ?

Hi Flan, yes I know, I think the compression ratio is not the same because of the pistons, but I would like to be sure that the engine doesn't blow up in my faceo_O with the HO computer.
that's why if a professional could explain to me it would be good before doing a stupid thing about a $10,000 engine (that's what it cost me)
 
They have different tunes. The HO uses more boost due to the lower compression ratio. I expect there are at a minimum some fueling differences that go along with that. If you're swapping engines, you should use the ECM that belongs with the engine.

You're right, they do use different TCM. SO is built into the PCM, Aisin is separate. In that case, you'll probably need to look at either a CC ECM and/or a custom tune. Since you're (evidently) in Canada, the tune shouldn't be a problem.

Hi, that's what I thought too, but the ECM of the 2500 manages a 68 transmission while my truck has an AISIN ac69rc which has its own computer.
1 for the engine and 1 for the transmission

Chassis Cab truck.

CC is basically a detuned SO engine that also uses a standalone Aisin TCM. Yes, there are some hard parts differences, but I'm not getting into that here.

the 6 truck chassis cab dually and single that my brother has 3/4/5500 are all sold only with an HO / AISIN in it and not a standard.
I don't see the point of an SO in a cab chassis. I'm checking morning. thanks

CC trucks do NOT have an HO motor. They have a detuned SO. They are 360HP/800lb.ft. They make it up with gearing.

They do have the AISIN. Just because it has an AISIN, doesn't mean it's an HO, that only holds true in the 3500 pickup trucks. The CC Hemi trucks are available with an AS66RC (AISIN), doesn't make them HO diesels. LOL

My brother's trucks are very heavy 3/4/5 dually tool trucks and all have the engines are HO and not standard.

OK, so I'm thinking 2019+ (4.5gen trucks) and you're still talking 4th gen trucks.

Technically you're right, they offered an HO up to 2018. That is no longer the case.

What was the HP/TQ on those CC HO engines? 325/750.

Hardly HO. ;)

for the HP/TO it's true, but as they are not highway trucks the differential ratio is at least 4:44 or 4:88, so tool only..

The HO engine is still on these trucks in 2024, look here, and my dealers confirmed it to me this morning, I don't see why it wouldn't be.

Since he has the Aisin 69rc and the Aisin TCM, then he would need the ECM for the SO engine and any other bits that the SO has different from the HO. But im not sure what other things would be different or programmed into the ECM. Lights instrument panel etc...so could be a project...lol
